Re: good old days..
Was going through some old stuff at the weekend and found this. I keep hardly anything, so it obviously meant something to me at the time - Trevor Brooking's last game. A very sad, but proud night. A true West Ham legend - a one club man who could have left when we were relegated in the late 70's, but stayed and became the finest footballer that I have ever seen at West Ham. At the final whistle of his last game Trev modestly walked off, but the whole crowd stayed behind chanting his name, and he eventually came out to do a lap of honour to a fantastic ovation. He'd also changed out of his football boots into a pair of slippers from memory. I also remember that after half time, he more or less played as a centre forward to try and get a goal on his last appearance, but Neville Southall made a couple of good saves. There's only one Trevor Brooking!

Re: good old days..
The Forest game was Sir Trev's last saturday game before he retired. It was the Chairman , Len Cearns who presented the dacanter before the game (got it on an old video somewhere.)the oldham stripper wrote:i could have sworn sir trevs last game was against forest, i can remember cloughie presenting him with a decanter before the kick off,his son was the mascot as well iirc, mind you i am getting a bit addled in my old age
Always remember after the Everton game that nobody would leave the ground until he did a lap of honour . Great memories of a great player.
