Re: The big Mark Noble debate...
can we have a poll.
I know where Noble should play
Some people use technical terms to describe his position, and reference a player who might play there, the next person has a different understanding of teh described position.
So if an option of "where should Noble play" were "holding midfielder" not everyone would agree with what that means.
Is it easier to list ex-hammers who we are all familiar with and you vote for which one best describes by analogy Nobles best roll.
A) Brooking
B) Martin Allen
C) Lomas
D) Lampard Jnr
E) Moncur
F) Paul Scholes
G) On the bench
H) For someone else
that sort of thing
that sort of thing
sorry everyone, see you later

Re: The big Mark Noble debate...
Stats don't lie. They don't tell the whole truth but they certainly knock any suggestion that he gives the ball away on head (well they did until recently). And in regards to creativity, show me a central midfielder in our squad whose passing is as progressive as Noble's when he is on form. Parker, as UTJ mentioned last season when he posted the KUMB goal of the season contenders had a key role in nearly all of our best goals but he also wastes as many passes as anyone in our colours. Collison may show more in the final third but in general, no. Behrami? No. Kovac? Nope.rare as rockinghorse shat wrote:
He's never, at any point in his West Ham career, been our best passer or most creative player.
For a start, both Nigel Quashie and Jack Collison are better passers of a football and one of them doesn't even play.
Or was your post a wind-up?

They nearly always lie.SenzaPaura wrote:Stats don't lie.
Did you know that Carl Fletcher was a more successful passer than Steven Gerrard according to the stats, at some point when he was here one season.
Indeed they don't. They very rarely tell the truth because they don't tell the whole story.SenzaPaura wrote:They don't tell the whole truth but they certainly knock any suggestion that he gives the ball away on head (well they did until recently).
For example, James Tomkins success rate for passing may be (or may not, as the case may be) one of the best in the league.
That's because the **** passes back to Green every other pass
Again, it comes down with what you do with the ball. Noble is one of the biggest culprits at the club for playing slack passes, albeit successful ones, to other players, thus killing the momentum of moves.SenzaPaura wrote:And in regards to creativity, show me a central midfielder in our squad whose passing is as progressive as Noble's when he is on form.
He's not a bad passer, but at the same time, he's not great either... he's just ok.
He's never, at any point, been the best passer or most creative passer at the club which was what I (perhaps rather pedantically) disagreed with you on.
Nah, wasn't a wind up. Most people assume it is, when you use Nigel Quashie in the sentence :lol:SenzaPaura wrote:Or was your post a wind-up?
You know when I'm on a wind up cos it's usually racist and/or about having sex with children.

Re: The big Mark Noble debate...
On footy manager I played him as the "Xavi Alonso" style defensive midfielder (deep lying play maker)...
Then I sold him for £10m as soon as I could and brought in Moutinho from Sporting.
