as far as i know, all gambling in china is illegal. there are, however, two different types of lotteries, and endless amount of ma jiang or card houses where people gamble all the time. in fact, that's one easy way to bribe someone; let them win at ma jiang.

oh, and betting websites will probably be inaccessible from inside china. that said, many of the 5-star hotels in china don't block a lot of sites, presumably so that foreigners who come will tell people that they were able to access all the websites they wanted.

Casinos are in Macao. About the closest thing you can get to a casino here is a huge KTV/Disco. The big ones are usually 3 or 4 floors with karaoke rooms (you get your own room; no singing with strangers), dance floors, and bars. Women available throughout (for a price usually).

Then there are regular dance clubs that style themselves after Euro-trash discos and also quite a few expat/sea turtle/ABC bars and clubs in Beijing and Shanghai.

Shall we open up an illicit den of inequity in one of our rooms. It'll be like a Bugsy Malone speakeasy with UG as the madame. :D

Poker tables on the right, Roulette straight through and Blackjack to the left. For those interested, we have a full bar available and there are 'massages' availble to our clientele in the bathrooms...
