He's a forward. Would play on the right of a forward 3 in the same way Kuyt, Messi, Ronaldo would.
Or in a withdrawn forward role like Di Michele last season.

Chuck...you missed it all...

General consenus seems to be that Cole will not suffer either an injury, suspension or dip in form over the next 9 or so months, Hines and Nouble will be the absolute dogs and Diamanti will step up effortlessly from Serie B into the PL and everything will be hunky dory.

We couldn't afford to "develop" Savio either.....but "no harm was done".

We have also discovered that due to the magnificent negotiation skills of the Egg........signing a first division CB from the Brummies, a freebie from the Gooners, a Liverpool reserve and a guy from Newcastle's treatment room had bankrupted us as well.

You would have liked it here last week Chuck.....fancy going to America at such an exciting time for the club....tut tut.

No, when I was saying, oh god, when Chuck gets back, he's going to have a field day taking the p**s out of all us optimists, including me.

Well, Scott said he went back to the end of the rainbow and the little Irish fellow he'd asked to keep hold of the £14 million in his pot didn't seem to be around. Got some magic beans though, have to be patient til they grow before they'll pay off.

Upson?

Also, I thought we paid a fee for Ljungberg?

If you're gonna be morbid, you should have used Boa Morte as an example!

Sorry....I meant Championship (it will always be the first (or second division if you want to go back further!) to me.

Ljungberg? Who knows? Rumours are from a nominal sum to £2 million.....knowing the Egg it was probably £5m +!

excellent post smuts - you also forgot to mention though that we have no right to expect decent management and success as west ham never have in 50/60 years despite having around the 7th highest income when in the prem over the last 15 years (when arguably money has become more important) - consistently higher income than bolton, blackburn, sunderland, wigan, fulham etc, etc.....but we can't expect to compete with tottenham as they have a higher income than us (despite as mentioned previously that that logic doesn't hold for us being better positioned than wigan et al).....as chuck would say - the things you learn

If this club ever gets half decent management.......

I'm always midly amused by this thread - lots of good contributions, too many to credit now, but unfortunately the **** its mixed in with is hilarious.

If I have seen the phrase "who replaced Bellamy" once..................................

These people are clearly working on the basis that is player A kicks a ball and plays one way and then gets sold............The ONLY football management sense must be to buy a Player B who kicks the ball and plays EXACTLY the same way. like for like. One player in, one player out!

What a load of ignorant old tosh.

Teams need to be developed to a playing style, management style and (hopefully) a winning style. You dont just replace one for one.

Now I appreciate we need a striker at the moment, but that could come from anywhere and as a result of any manner of player trades to acheive a team, a shape, a style. Not to mention academy and player development constantly adding to the squad (and wages)

Now I appreciate we have not yet acheived any of the above (flawed post already) but this one for one nonsense is hilarious.

Just for the record youre allowed to have flexibility in squad sizes, and team structure. It doesnt have to be one out one in you know.

Who's replaced bellamy?

Dunno. Who's played 8 games in the past half-season? Didn't DDM score 3 goals? Then he replaced Bellamy (who scored 3 for man City last season.)

This elevation of Bellamy into the answer to all our problems ****'s me off, TBF.

Sure but a squad of :1 striker, 12 midfielders,7 defenders and 3 goalies, surely thats taking this flexibility thing a bit too far!

Hi Chuck,

Just to summarise.

We released Walker as he was only fit for the championship, then tried and failed to sign a Div 1 keeper.

We released our captain, Australias Captain and proven right back, and replaced him with a combination of Faubert/Spector.

We sold James Collins to fund a new striker then signed absoloutley no one, as we only realised by watching Sky Sports News, that it was deadline day.

We sold our number 10 although not a replacement for the previous number 10 (apparently 10 was the only number available), and did a deal where we got a centre back who couldn't make it in the dutch leauge and had been playing reserve team football. I must make the point, he was not a replacement for Collins and any ideas to play him in that position or give him that number is purely coincidental.

We released Kovac back to his club, then decided we liked him really and signed him.

We pretended that our CEO hadn't said that the Bellamy money helped pay for illunga, instead pretending he was a new signing.

We bought a back up left back from Austria, then when our left back got injured, we played a right back there rather than use him.

We loaned out Sears who needed more experience despite having already played and scored in the premiership, and replaced him with Hines who we took pity on and eventually gave him a one year contract despite having never played in the premiership, although he may this way gain experience.

Carlton Cole has a clause in his contract preventing him from getting injures, but if the worst happened, we signed an Itallion......what did Zola say???????...........Oh thats right. "I havent figured out where to play him yet."

So all in all pretty good business

We Have 6 strikers in our squad.

Cole, Ashton, Hines, Nouble, Diamanti and Sears

Granted there is inexperience and unavailability here ,thats why we have to shape our team, offload and replace according to squad size budget, fitness and form
Alternatively we could just go back to the one in, one out mentality of most of our beloved posters on here!!
