Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread '09
So we have been punting all our players around, yet only sold Savio and Collins...
Doesn't sound right to me at all.
Can't see why Zola would be unhappy about either. He knew what he was getting in to and sounded very positive in an interview with Clarke 3 weeks ago.

Zola has the world's most positive public face, remember the Tristan incident? Personally I think he's tragic at home. Tears of a clown, you know the kind of thing.carnage wrote:He knew what he was getting in to and sounded very positive in an interview with Clarke 3 weeks ago.

Hi, I've been away in Americaland, and to save me trawling through hundreds of pages can someone just tell me which top drawer striker we signed as Bellamy's replacement?
Given that we were waiting for the summer window to get better value?
I heard that we sold Collins as well? Doubtless we got in a better or equal replacement too?

we did sell collins for £5m but it was too late in the day to use the money.
we did try to sign alot of good players though, promise

You mean when people were saying "Chuck must be eating his hat now, what with us signing Gudjonnson, RVN, Balotelli, Mancini, and Toni"?joyful wrote:welcome back Chuck. Your ears must have been burning in Americaland.
Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread '09

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread '09
So this Diamanti, he's a good second tier player then, with no record at the highest level in Italy?

He has played in Serie A although his best season was in Serie B.
You may as well say he is a second tier player though despite the fact we bought him from a Serie A team.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread '09
Well, I have to say I am disappointed.
I was expecting Scott to be good to his word, and I come back to see that we've signed an unknown, unproven Italian player from Serie B club, taken a "boy" (to quote Zola) from Fiorentina, and sold both Collins, and our record signing.
Have we had any excuses from the club yet?

How very dare you lay any blame on the Club.Chuck D wrote:Have we had any excuses from the club yet?
I mean, it isn't their fault a player that turned us down three weeks ago turned us down on deadline day, is it?
Everybody knew that Chamakh was desperate to sign for us deep down. :arry:
Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread '09
How many games did Livorno play in Serie A last year then? And how many of those games did Diamanti play in?IIIronss wrote:He has played in Serie A although his best season was in Serie B.

Unless you are saying that a player bought from Burnley (who also went up through a play off) would have been considered to have a Premiership player?
Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread '09
They weren't in Serie A last year, they were the year before though, when he also played for them.Chuck D wrote:

Re: Summer Transfer Rumour Thread '09
Right, so he was a striker for a relegated team, which came back up this season?
So we bought him from a Serie B side. Glad we agree.
How did he do at the top level?

Firstly, he wasn't really a striker, but that's been done to death.Chuck D wrote:Right, so he was a striker for a relegated team, which came back up this season?

He was in Serie A when we bought him, as were the team we bought him from.
Scored 4 goals in 26 games (14 starts) in Serie A.

Chuck, you don't need to have this discussion, it's been had many times over if you look back.
