Our future manager is... Avram GrantModerator: Gnome Re: Steve CoppellSounds like a pretty sensible move for me He's been there, seen it and done it as a manager, which is far more than you can say for our current balding chimp.
Saying that, I think I would even take Phil Brown over Zola if truth be told.
Re: Steve CoppellYou are under the impression that both Alan Curbishley and Martin Jol would (a) want the job and (b), we could afford them .
I think a heavy dose of realism is required here, have you any idea about the sh*t we are in both on and off the pitch? You talk of managers needing to know about European leagues when knowing the Vauxhall Conference is probabaly more appropriate for at least the next three years.[/quote] Mushy , You are under the impression that I would have enough money to buy West Ham . I don't . It's just a bit of fantasy , mate . Hughes is favourite on skybet to be the next manager of West Ham . Do you think he would want to come here ? I'm just contributing to this forum in my own little way , and I wasn't saying anything about needing a manager with knowledge of Europe , just saying that a lot of the criticism of Curbishley had been of his lack of nous in the European market . Oh , and yes I'm aware of our predicament , thanks .
Re: Steve Coppell
ahh too many negatives to comprehend there Curbs left because his pride was damaged and for that reason I can't see him coming back, and like MS says too many idiots would jump on his back the very first time he subbed a striker for a defender and tried to hold onto a 1-0 or he'd steer us into mid table and the same idiots would be instantly claiming he doesn't have what it takes to take us to the "next level"!! The phrase don't know what you've got until it's gone has never been so true!!
Re: Steve CoppellWhy do we need a manager with knowledge of europe?
We need someone to get us out of the ****ing championship next year
Re: Steve Coppell
Are you actually talking about Keegan?
Re: Steve Coppell
Yes, and I am sure you are aware of our predicament, its just that the state this club is in, going for a top class manager, be it Mark Hughes or Martin Jol is as you say a bit of a fantasy is it not? I may well be wrong but I just cant see the new owners spashing out on the new managers wages in anything like the form we are seeing at the moment. Our next manager will be bargain basement as will our next batch of players. Thats the reality I am afraid.
Re: Steve CoppellI`d be happy with Coppell - I like the way he sets up his teams and he can spot good, low-profile players. I don`t know if I could cope with his boring postmatch interviews, though
Re: Steve CoppellWill he be bringing Eike Immel with him?
Re: Steve Coppell
I couldn't agree more. We clearly don't have a chance of getting Roy Hodgson. My personal favourite. So Steve Coppell is the best available.
Re: Steve Coppell
I can tell youl that Pards is also in the frame, but for obvious reasons, I cannot reveal my source
Re: Steve CoppellI have respect for Coppell but I don't think he is gutsy enough for a relegation dogfight.
Can't imagine him geeing up the troops. More a cerebral manager. Hughes (if he would take it) would be my no.1 choice.
Re: Steve CoppellContigency plans I should imagine. If we do ok Saturday then the Fonz will stay.
Re: Steve Coppell
pretty much dead on that he will be gone by sunday then
Re: Steve Coppell1 Hodgson
2 Hughes 3 Coppell That's my shortlist...
Re: Steve CoppellBrooking for the last 7 games is my shortlist. But he won't do it this time...
Re: Steve CoppellPssst heard that Beckton may be taking over, Don't know a lot about his managerial skills, can box a bit, if they played like the other night he' Punch the F*****ing daylights out of em.
Re: Steve Coppell
1) Ferguson 2) Mourinho 3) Wenger Surely?
Re: Steve CoppellApparently Hughes has said he's not interested.
Re: Steve Coppell
No Bilic?
Re: Steve Coppell
I'm relieved they're not. None have succeeded in club management. I dont understand this obsession for managers to have previously played for the club. On that basis, Arsenal wouldnt have given Wenger a chance, nor Man U recruited Ferguson.
