Certainly hasn't lost much stamina.

I imagine he'd have to get to grips with the pace a little at first, but he'd be no different to the likes of Keane, Murphy, Huddlestone, Silva etc... players that aren't blessed with pace, but are powerful on the ball and focus their game on ball retention - something we'll desperately need in the top flight.

I think us as a club and him as a player would be a perfect match.

I wouldn't envisage him playing every game though.

As far as i'm aware all that Hazard has said is....

Eden hazard ‏@hazardeden10
I'm signing for the champion's league winner.

Does that necessarily mean Chelsea? He could easily be talking about Fergie who has won the tournament twice

Oh the Man U fans :lol:
Tweeting Hazard saying they didn't want him anyway, saying he's overrated, and chelsea will get battered at old trafford. Also tweeting the Kagawa is much better, and he's who they really want. Bet they would've said things of a similar ilk had he joined them?

I heard that Hazard said he would be basing his decision on how much playing time we would get and the position that would be in.

So he announces he is set to join the team that doesn't have a confirmed manager for next season...

i dont think yakubu would offer us anything better than what we have already, and do we really want ex relegated fodder like him , im sure that we already had our targets sorted pre play offs, and the merry go round will begin once the euros are over, and id rather have etherington back than matt jarvis.

Are you serious? Take last season - he scored more goals (18) in the prem than Carlton scored in the championship. And the season before he scored 11 goals in 20 appearances for a pretty gash Leicester team - where Carlton scored 15 in 43 playing for one of the frontrunners.

Yes he's as old as the hills, and fat, and played for half the teams in England, but he'd instantly be the best striker at the club by far if he joined. And I say that as someone who like Carlton Cole quite a lot. But if we go into the prem with him as our number one striker we're in for a rough time of it again. He's good at what he does, but he's never going to fire enough goals to get us anywhere above the lower ends of the table

A big fat no for Yakubu.

Yes his last 2 seasons he has scored a few goals. But the 3 seasons before that he was poor.

Who's to say he wouldn't go through that poor form again.

Surely we should be judging players on how they've done in recent seasons. Yakubu would be a cheap option to challenge Cole and the bloke is bang in form. Seems like a no brainer to me

Here's this season's top scorers in the PL:

1. Robin van Persie (30)
2. Wayne Rooney (27)
3. Sergio Agüero (23)
4= Yakubu Aiyegbeni (17)
4= Clint Dempsey (17)
4= Emmanuel Adebayor (17)
7. Demba Ba (16)

One of these players is available for £1 million. I sometimes wonder if people actually watch the players they're talking about. I saw Blackburn quite a few times last season - Yakubu was devastating at times. And Robinson was uetterly dire, but a lot of people would be happy to take him

Aceface it's because they listen to the soundbites rather than the facts, i mean for instance it's been said on here that 3 seasons ago he lost form but he was coming back from injury and in and out of an Everton side with an unsettled frontline and he struggled granted, but that don't mean he's not worth the punt, as punts is all we will get, those with a reputation of consistency won't even look at us unless they are past their best or have baggage, it's been like it for couple of decades now and yet still some think we can do better.

If he scores the goals for us, then i'd be all for it. But we all assumed Carew would destroy the league and look how that turned out...

Aceface,

I agree with you about Yakubu but to be fair to Robinson he did come 3rd in their POTY this season and 1st the season before...
