Guidetti - on his way to Sunderland (delayed as he is sick).

I believe we are still very interested, but it was put on hold during the AC fiasco. I think we will get either Konate or Sagbo

With todays addition to the MF of Diarra, I am glad we passed on him TBH, if you asked me the same question last week and I may have given a different response, just goes to show that patience can pay off eh?RyanWHUFC wrote: Will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Does anyone actually know anything about Sagbo?
It's a terrible way to judge a player, but if we were linked with him last season in the championship, is he good enough to cut it for us this year? I've never seen him play so it's a genuine question rather than a criticism

Know nothing about the bloke but have a feeling he is mumping for a move to us just because he is Guy Demel's half brother!Aceface wrote:Does anyone actually know anything about Sagbo?

Re: Summer 2012 Transfer and Rumours Thread
Maiga has certainly played as a main striker, as have Maynard and obviously Cole, whilst I think RVT could. I dont think we exactly need another one, wouldnt hurt though. I think Saha is the best option as hes free and he will either prove hes still got it and we'll have to start him due to form or he'll be in and out and a great option.
I don't see any point buying a RB unless its an obvious upgrade on Demel, decent value and with potential to play for seasons to come. Unless Simpson is available, or someone of his ilk, then its not worth it.
I'm not entirely convinced Jarvis is worth that kind of money either but he would be a decent fit, works hard and has those natural winger attributes too. Very Matt Etherington esque in my eyes (obviously different wings) and hes another who seems of decent character and wouldn't throw the toys out if he was not always a starter.
Diarra could well be used as a centre back, and with him and Collins brought in then we don't need to spend there either.
Basically, I think we now have a squad that only needs good money spent on upgrades in each position. Maybe that Silva could come in to give another midfield option.
Saha, Simpson, Jarvis and Silva could probably combine with the other signings as the best window we've ever had? Even with those names in the frame, I can't see us not having a dip in the loan market once squads take shape and some of the other clubs make more moves, Richardson may not be gone yet.

Re: Summer 2012 Transfer and Rumours Thread
I've been mulling over our starting team for next season (by which i mean playing fifa with a beer), and following the way we set up a lot last season, how outlandish would it be for Noble to be the player used wide-right. This isn't a system i'd particularly promote, but a few times in the season we were playing with Cole up front, Vaz a roaming forward, and Nolan on the left with Noble, Tomkins and Collison in the middle. Following that logic i could see a system set up with Diarra and Diame holding the midfield, Vaz on the left, Nolan sitting in the middle and Noble on the right, much like Nolan did last season at times. He'd fit the bill as far as defensive work rate goes, and i personally think he can put the ball in the box better than anyone bar Taylor at the club. As i said not my preference and probably just mindless ramblings but food for thought.

Do we really need to focus on a winger? Vaz o Neil and collinson on right with talyor and maiga on left or jackAceface wrote:Reckon we're 3 signings away from *gulp* being able to look forward to the season with confidence, rather than closing our eyes and hoping for mercy.

Just need a right back and we are sorted but a striker is,always a plus and a cb if they offering

I can't tell if you're arguining for or against a winger, so that probabaly means we need a winger.mumbles87 wrote:Vaz o Neil and collinson on right with talyor and maiga on left or jack

Maybe low on priority but pretty low on quality, too, at winger.
Swansea came up with Dyer/Sinclair. Norwich with Pilkington/Bennett. Mackie/Taarabt/SWP/Barton for QPR. It would seem we have quite a glaring hole, in comparison.

I still think we're desperately lacking in technical quality and guile.
