R.I.P. KUMBer eastsidejon
My good mate Garry Douglas (eastsidejon), passed away on Sunday from what I believe to have been blood complications from his diabetes treatment. I do not know the full story yet, but that is what is believed to have happened at this stage.

Larger than life, I can't get my mind off the memory tonight of how we were 5-0 up against Burnley and he went total chicken at half the team almost on the touchline as Burnley's goals were going in and we still ended up winning 5-3. That's how much he fought for the win with heart and soul and voice.
Born and brought up around Walthamstow, his dad was a Gooner, but he resisted enough past being dragged along to Highbury all those times, that he told his Dad he wanted to be a West Ham fan instead. "My old man, said be an...." and all that.
He was a former season ticket holder, and was present at all the cup finals that I missed during the 70's and 80's. He gave up his season ticket due to work commitments, but would still regularly come to games via my brother's season ticket when my brother couldn't make it.
He was a big fan of baseball, especially the Toronto Blue Jays, but would sit glued to any baseball match you sat in front of him on ESPN or wherever.
His struggle with diabetes was long and painful, but was always taken with humour, his love of music, and his special love of photography. no matter how many blood tests he had to go for that month.
The worst thing about it though? i found out about it on Facebook.
How we loved to talk about the truly skewered insignificance of RBI's in the grand scheme of what makes a great player. How I loved my friend.
Rest in Peace eastsidejon

Sorry to hear about that Beastie boy, and especially sad that you heard through facebook. That's no way to find out about the passing of a close friend.
