Agree entirely with these sentiments.sicknote wrote:i'd hate to see west ham go the route chelsea have, when you work hard for something the reward of achieving your goal is everything you've worked, having something handed on a plate after buying it taints it, chelseas victory has a very hollow feel to it, i'd hate to feel that about any glory we might have
Anyway, we're all masochists, and the suffering is simply part of the contract.

My post was made completely assumption free. I just wanted to comment on the buying title issue.
I don't believe this story whatsoever. There is so much crap flying around at the moment it is incredible. That's the close season for you I suppose.

I'm the complete opposite i'me fed up with all the pain and uncertainty I want to see West Ham win things and be successfull - and the reality is in todays game the only way that will happen is to have a very wealthy backer.jay66uk wrote:I would hate us to become another Chelsea. Shoot me down if im wrong but not so long ago I heard that the owner of Corinthians and Mr Ambromavich (sp) had formed some kind of super agency. Basically buying out star footballers contracts and "owning the player" and then "renting" or "loaning" the players to clubs for set periods of time. I believe certain Argentinian players and I think one name mentioned was Maxi Lopez are owned by this super agent and thats how he went to Barcelona for a "reasonable" fee ?????????????

Know a corinthians supporters over here and from the start he has always been a little leary about the long term financial support from the iranian. Seems that he is mostly interested in making the club into a profitable name in europe. I also saw a television programme about the big contracts and all they talked about was the amount of money he was trying to make by selling shirts etc. After watching Brazils leage on TV and seeing how few supporters are at the games anymore, and with all of the corruption over there, I can see why he wants to buy an english club.
I also think he would be very different from Abromovitch in the sense that at least Abrom. goes to all the chelsea games and is obsessed with football. I am not sure this guy is as much of a diehard. I think this would be more of an ego move...

Of course I do, but not by being bankrolled...I'd like it to happen by achievement. OK so it's never going to happen, big deal.RM9 wrote:
You dont wanna have a squad with some the best players in the world? Win the Prem? Goto the likes of the San Siro, Nou Camp?
Please, f*ck off

I agree with many of you. I would rather fight to establish ourselves in the prem than become another Chelsea. Imagine West Ham without an Academy because that's what would happen if someone too big came in. They wouldn't give a **** about the youth system, like others, we'd just buy them from elsewhere. Read the post by Happyhammer. It just about sums it up and proves a point.

found this .........
Brazilian football hasn’t seen anything like it in decades, if ever. Crippled by debts, Corinthians were rescued by shady investment firm MSI, fronted by Anglo-Iranian businessman Kia Joorabchian. Within months, Corinthians completed the most unlikely signing in South American history when they snapped up Argentina’s brightest prospect Carlos Tevez for $22m.
More than $30m has since been spent on securing other players, and a sceptical Brazilian media is convinced that the deal is a front for a money-laundering operation involving Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky.
The theory is simple enough - buy a player with ‘dirty’ money for $20m, before selling him on for clean cash a year or two later. The stench of suspicion is strong enough for the Brazilian government to investigate, while fans and pundits remain uneasy about such a mysterious set-up.

and if this Boris Berezovsky is his partner, it is worth considering that ........
" There has been evidence that Berezovsky has been feathering his nest here recently. I note that the new owner of Chelsea Football Club, Roman Abramovitch, (who has strong links with Berezovsky, as you will no doubt be aware) has his assets looked after by an investment fund based in Weybridge. Contrary to what his PR folk will tell anybody who makes enquiries, Berezovsky does not live in Fulham, he has recently moved to . . . Weybridge!"
Draw your own conclusions!

what about both?BubbleBlower wrote:It begs the question.
If the club where to be taken over would you prefer the buyer was a faceless billionaire with more money then sence or a consortium of life long West Ham fans who will have a lot less money but will know what is best for the club in the long run...

so if brown pulled an extra £20m out the hat from his personal current account some people on here would say "the money was not generated by the club it will mean we are being bankrolled by our chairmen i think he should keep it" .money is money the club needs it the team needs it to me it doesnt matter were it comes from.

Brown will HAVE to accept.
By xmas we will be in a relegation battle, if Pardew buys a striker this week there will be no money left to improve the squad. The crowd will get agitated.
The Iranian geezer will offer an alternative similar to Chelsea.....Gerrard, Owen in West Ham shirts etc
The prospect of relegation will be compounded by Browns refusal to 'let go' of the club and it will be, a PR disaster.
Unless Brown finds 20-30 million from somewhere, he is...... quite simply..... history!
By the way according to teletext the article is being lead by THE EXPRESS.
