There is a manager who has taken a team of unknowns to the top of a major league, playing 3-4-3 with his side going eyeballs out for goals for the entire 90 minutes. His team, River Plate, were top of the league after 9 games, scoring 37 goals and conceding 5.

Last Saturday, River played Nacional (who were 2nd in the table), and this happened:

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So, if you want the old roller-coaster West Ham back, the guy you want in charge is called Juan Ramón Carrasco.
3-4-3?

Against Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea etc?

Not being funny mate, but the standard of football in that league is nowhere near the same as the Prem...and I definately do not want the old roller coaster West Ham back.

WEST Ham fans deserve better than Curbishley and his dull, dreary, unwinning Charlton-a-likes

Hatchet Man

Humiliation - it's the only word for how West Ham fans are feeling after the abject surrender of their team against ten men in Manchester.

"Sorry Avram," says Alan Curbishley, according to the back page of the Daily Mail. Well West Ham are one sorry club and their manager is like Humpty Dumpty ... he's fallen off his wall and there's no way of putting him together again.

• The previous HATCHET MAN

"West Ham did not turn up," said Alan Hansen. "They were looking for a beach somewhere."

This is a club who have been in the same position in the league for 19 weeks. They don't go up, they don't go down. A little bit like the game at Old Trafford: West Ham did not go forward with any menace, they offered no threat to Manchester United – they curled up and caved in. Where is their ambition?

How times change: Last year Carlos Tevez saved West Ham at Old Trafford - this year he helped savage them

Now, United are the superior team with the better players, but West Ham had beaten them in each of their previous three encounters.

When United strolled into a 3-0 lead, it was nothing more than anyone expected, especially from this West Ham team under Curbishley.

Then Nani was sent off for his head-push on Lucas Neil (great pinch to wind him up) and Dean Ashton scored with a sensational overhead kick and suddenly we had a game. Or we should have done.

Surely, West Ham would send bodies forward, bring on another striker, attack with relish – they had nothing to lose. Instead, they collapsed, they gave up. They only played with two up front once they were 4-1 down.
Sir Alex Ferguson and Alan Curbishley

The old pals' act extended to the pitch when Alan met Alex

This epic title race deserved more than this; it deserved for West Ham to really go after United and to take the head-to-head between United and Chelsea down to the last kicks.

Imagine how West Ham fans might have been feeling through the summer. We beat Man U, their fans would be able to say ... in their own backyard. Or at least, we gave them a right good chasing.

Instead, their supporters stumble into the summer with a loathing for what Curbishley has turned their team into - and the dull, Charlton-like, unattractive football they play.

What a sad bunch they are but this club with rich and proud traditions of playing good football deserve more. A better team and a better manager.

He couldn't even face the cameras after the game. He was right to hide away.

dean ashton

Sad time: Ashton

Why didn't Dean Ashton celebrate his amazing scissor kick at Old Trafford? He was a Manchester United fan as a boy but he is a West Ham player now.

Maybe he was hoping he might get a move to Old Trafford. Never mind son. You have to stay fit to get a move to a big club.

What a load of aboslute, unmitigated b*llocks. Yes many West Ham fans are unhappy with Curbishley but that is a shocking piece, and what's all this about 'they would have been able to say we gave Man U a right good chasing in their own backyard'? We did that last season. And we deserve a better team? Well we've got an England international and a possible future England international sitting in centre midfield, another future Egland international who has been called up before up front, our record signing back on his way from injury, yes we have had to play out this season with a 'B' team but once we have all our players fit we will have a very good team. And the bit about calling us 'a right sad bunch' just makes me laugh. The Mail is famous for lazy journalism when it comes to West Ham but this outshines (or should I say outsmuts) anything I've seen so far. It's rubbish.

Oh and as a closing bit about the comment on Ashton, he didn't celebrate his goal because we were 3-0 down at the time and it was only a consolation goal really. Morons.

Find the silence from Curbs a little strange, even the official site usually has his overview of the previous game by now.

As I've said on other posts our only Prem class players at OT were - Green, Neill, McCartney, Noble, Parker and Ashton. Tomkins is a promising youngster but the rest are either 'has beens or never were's'. If I was manager I'd disappear as well!

I hope we can expect a lot of new signings this close season whether or not we can out the deadwood. Forget top 8 next year and that's not the manager's fault. He needs money to spend otherwise Curbs will carry the can for melting Icelandic promises...

Daily Mail Readers Deserve Better

Humiliation - it's the only word for how Daily Mail readers are feeling after the realisation that they have shelled out 50p to buy a paper that has given up all attempts to actually put an intelligent, well-researched and thought provoking article together.

This is a journalist who has been watching matches with his Chelsea mates somewhere in leafy Surrey for 3 years. Professionalism went out of the window as the journo, understandably upset by the failure of the club he has supported right from its very beginning in 2003 when it was set up by humble peasant Abrahamovic, went to print to blame everybody else for the fact that diving alone isn't enough to win Premierships.

This is a journo who has been in the same position at the Mail for several years. A little bit like his club, when challenged to write something decent he curled up and caved in. Where is his ambition?

How times change: A few weeks ago when Man Utd seemed to have the league sewn up there was nobody to blame but Chelsea's own failures. Then a 2-1 win in front of the crowds in the Rose and Crown in Haslemere opened things up. Surely, Hatchet Man would seize the opportunity to write something of interest. Instead he gave up and resorted to an article of such poor quality, even Mail readers were querying where the recent price rise had been spent.

Mail Readers deserved more than this; it deserved for the journo to really look at the reasons his beloved Chelsea (est 2003) had failed to buy the Premiership despite the billions spent on their academy system that has produced the likes of Cech and Drogba.

Imagine how Mail readers might have been feeling through the summer. "What an interesting and thought-provoking article" the readers would be able to say ... "in the Mail of all places"

Instead, the readers stumble into the summer with a loathing for the dull, appallingly written and poorly punctuated rubbish the paper is churning out these days. What a sad bunch they are, but this readership with rich and proud traditions deserve more. At the very least the journo could have blamed asylum seekers and investigated the negative effect his team's failure to play decent football has had on house prices - the very least Mail readers expect.

He couldn't even give his real name after the article, He was right to hide away.

Maybe he was hoping he might get a move to a better paper. Never mind son. You have to be able to write to get a move to a proper paper.

Even the Daily Mail can get things right sometimes; total surrender against 10 men in third gear. Don't buy the Ashton celebration excuse either; been behind to Man Utd plenty of times and it was still the first half. Apart from Tomkins, Parker and a couple of others they all wanted to be somwhere else. Curbishley just can't do more than 10th; now, next year or (god forbid) the year after.

Perhaps he didn't celebrate because he scored when we were 3-0 down, or that he felt a twinge in his groin/calf/thigh and thought his game was over? Jog on you Chelski c***!

To be fair, this is from the 'Hatchet Man' column, it's designed to be crude and controversial. It's the journalistic equivalent of Talksport.
