am i the only one in the ground who thought coles performance was the worst striking play since titi camara ? Ill say it again if it was 0-0 when he missed that ridiculous sitter you wouldnt be able to move for carlton cole is a donkey threads ! I cant believe you wouldnt rather have camara up front if bellars is still out

Neill--Gabbidon--Upson--Linda

Bowyer--Mullins--Noble--Ethers

--------Ashton--Camera----

Harsh on Ginge I know but after seeing the trouble Boro caused in behind our defence Saturday I think we need a bit more pace back there, especially with Owen and Martins up front for them.

Cant see the attraction with upson. Thought Ginge came in and showed how it should be done. Midfield stays the same for me. Neil has been crap this season perhaps he needs a rest. Bring solano in at right back.

Think we need Camara's pace as we're likely to be playing counter-attacking football again. Apart from that, same side as the Reading game. Give Parker a run-out towards the end. As said, Ferdinand in the back four will give us less hassle from Owen than a Collins-Upson pairing.

Reckon we'll get a 1-1 draw, Camara to score on his debut.

Yea but who deserves to lose their place.

Bowyer is scoring and so is ethers... and ljungberg is too lighweight for the middle.

So did I. Problem is, we've got too many players pushing for a place. Ideally, I'd want Ljungberg, Solano, Collins and Cole on that bench, but you can't have them all. I want to see Parker given a go next weekend and Boa Morte gives you an option up front, so that was my reason for picking him. We do have an embarrassment of riches just at the minute, though, what with our 'crap' players playing well. Long may it continue.

By far our toughest assignment so far. Without wishing serious injury on anyone, maybe Owen will pick up a slight knock at Derby tonight!!

Assuming ... Bellamy is out. Neill isn't jetlagged. Ferdinand might still be out. Then I'd go 4-5-1 (which Curbs did a lot at Charlton, BTW), with two holding midfielders and three attacking, as follows ...

Green

Neill
Collins
Upson
McCartney

Mullins
Noble

Ljungberg
Bowyer
Etherington

Ashton

Subs:

Wright
Gabbidon
Solano
Boa Morte
Camara

That way, you make it tough for Newcastle to break the team down, while still offering the potential to break at speed, with Ashton holding the ball up and feeding oncoming midfielders.

Good shout CB.

I think Camara needs to play with Ashton in a 4-4-2 though. Keep Cole on the bench.

Seems people are slowly realising we have quite a strong squad now.

Potentially 5 out from out strongest side on Saturday and Bellamy going off before we had scored. Thats not to mention Gabbidon, Solano, or Camara.

spot on CB... exactly what i was thinking

Only slight change would probably go for cole on the bench instead of LBM

Yep, superb booking :? He's only had a few days training and 9 mins of football recently. And as already suggested on here, I think Noble should be rested (not dropped) for this game. Don't want to flog the talent. A Mullins-Parker centre midfield would be slightly more solid defensively as well. I think we need continuity at the back so I would go with the same four. And throwing Solano or Camara in is silly - they have only just met the squad properly today. I'd play LBM as a roaming striker.

Collins AND Upson AND Neill - after Saturdays performance

How many do we think Michael Owen will put way if we give him 4 one on ones?

Got to have some pace in there - sorry Ginge - you're out - Gabbidon is better suited to this one.

Have to say I am quietly confident of 3 points providing our injuries dont get much worse - front players apart, Newcastle are shocking - Nicky Butt, Nzogbia at left back, Stephen Carr. If Owen gets injured they're bottom 6 material.

Camara up front please if Bellers is out - again, some pace.

I would have Anton back in for Ginge (if fit), Cole for Bellamy (if injured) and leave the rest as is.

DagenhamHammer, Upson is our best defender in my eyes, he is the best reader of the ball and the most assured, he would be my first choice CB any day of the week.
