Re: league table next season (Poll)
No way that will happen, they have been inproving for the past 5 years and even with a very poor season they would be top half.
Re: league table next season (Poll)
Just a feeling they'll have an off season. They were very average towards the end of the season.
Re: league table next season (Poll)
the european thing and losing out in the head to head with liverpool was there only blip, still got 5th, with villa chasing them all the way admittedly the last 2 seasons have been the only 2 of recent where they have been consistent whereas before that moyes seemed to have a good then a crap season, can't see them going crap for a few years yet
Re: league table next season (Poll)Unfortunately i reckon 14th, with same injury problems and poor unimaginative football. i just hope we have a better 2nd half of the season with a new manager or that curbs completely proves me wrong that would be nice.
Re: league table next season (Poll)i think we we finish 9th next season , as more injuries recks our europe dreams
Re: league table next season (Poll)The top 4 is the top 4.
There are a few teams who can qualify for Europe or josstle in that area just bellow. Man City, Villa, Everton, Spurs, Pompey will between them (by most hunches) take out places 5,6, and 7. I think West Ham can finish 9th but may finish 11th. I can't tick the 10-7 hole as there is no way West Ham can get to 7th next season. 8th would be amazing and is the upper limit of the mid-table jungle. 8th in my book would be West Ham finishing top of the third tier a huge success. Making the options 10-7 or 11th or bellow, rules out my solid mid-table range. As an anti-Curbs you are forcing me to tick 11th. In actyuality I feel that we will finish 11th, 10,th or 9th. But i cant let you think I ticked a box that had us 7th. You may as well have called it 10th-5th Shhessh So ill tick the one with 11th in it, though I feel we only have a 33.3% chance of finishing there! Im just a statistick
Re: league table next season (Poll)There done it.
11th to 14th. 14th! we wont finish that low, its nonsense. I think the reason the 10th to 7th is so full, is that people think we can finish 10th or 9th. I cant believe anyone sees us 7th, or would put their money rather than their hopes on 8th. This poll doesnt suggest we will be challenging for Europe, and our fans are looking up. It says we are stuck at 10th. Shoosh
Re: league table next season (Poll)A few lucky goals and decisions going our way in the opening games - and it could be one of those seasons.
We could push on to 8th, but 7th is probably beyond us. But, there's always one team each season that punches above their weight. Could be us.
Re: league table next season (Poll)I've voted 5th or 6th.
Crazy you may say, but i am strangely optimistic. We finished 10th from an injury-ridden season, and when he have played Faubert, Ashton, Bellamy etc, they've hardly been 100% fit. With the whole squad we've got (currently) with some prudent aquisitions I really think that we could really perform to the level that we've occaisionly threatened to. I'm pretty confident that next season we'll be a surprise package and finish higher. Having said that, i would be very happy with a top half finish. 8th would be an indicator of decent progression over a year. Hmmm, I think i've voted for the wrong one

1. Man Utd 2. Chelsea 3. Liverpool 4. Arsenal 5. T*ttenham - they're s***e - their best players keep leaving them 6. Aston Villa - their best player wants to leave them 7. Portsmouth 8. Bolton Wanderers 20. Stoke City I am absolutely convinced that we will finish above Sp*rs and Villa. Our 3rd team finished above Spuds this year and their best player wants to leave, while we have had every injury going and Villa had none - that wont happen next year and Barry wants to leave them too! I'm not 100% convinced by Ashton but his contract represents a good sign for the club at a time when our competitors best players want to leave.
Re: league table next season (Poll)Be well happy with a top 8 finish..............
Re: league table next season (Poll)I'd be happy with a "top third" finish. The maths don't work - so let's say 7th or above.
Re: league table next season (Poll)I did the dull 11th - 14th - if the investment is as low as reported then I cannot see a injury-free season and we will miss one or more of the following for protracted periods - Bellamy, Ashton, Dyer, Faubert, Parker.
Re: league table next season (Poll)18th-20th - Bramall Lane beckons 1 vote 1%
I reckon there is only one of two people who voted for that...........one in particular
Re: league table next season (Poll)a dull 11th for me , and if anything I think we will be looking more downwards than upwards .
By the sounds of things we are not going to be buying anyone in the close season , and we are going to be stuck with the same core of sicknotes .
Re: league table next season (Poll)I voted 7-10th, but 9th would be where i think we will finish. Portsmouth i can see finishing 5th, with Spurs 6th, Man City 7th, Everton 8th and then us. Although not a massive improvement on league placings from last season, however, it could be a big step in the right direction in competing with the likes of Spurs in the future.
Re: league table next season (Poll)I'm one of the 6% forecasting a relegation scrap but things could yet change between now and the begining of the new season which could alter my opinion. If something drastic changes between now and then, like we do bring in a couple of new players and we strengthen our defence and midfield too and we offload some of our crap players, then I think we will be alright. I don't think we will improve upon upon our 10th place last season as our midfield is not strong enough and our defence too loose, and then there are the ongoing concerns about injuries to key players and our squad lacking quality in depth to cope with this. As other clubs improve their squads and add new players, we will be overtaken by some teams who finsihed below us last season and there will not be too much leeway between us and those teams who will struggle from the off.
Re: league table next season (Poll)I voted 7-10 but i thtink 6 or 7 is about right.
Ashton and Bellamy both look to be getting a good run of fitness up towards pre season. Upson and anton will be back in our defence with gabbs and colls hopefully fit for cover and comp. Our midfield looks strong in the centre with parker noble and dyer vying for 2 places. Wings im considerably less confident about but if we improve there then I think my prediction will be about right.
Re: league table next season (Poll)Depending on signings i feel this is how the table will look come next May.
