http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/index.htmlYossi Benayoun could make a shock return to West Ham - just a year after leaving Upton Park to join Liverpool. The Hammers have enquired about the 28-year-old midfielder's availability - and price - as boss Alan Curbishley looks to strengthen his squad. Liverpool are desperate for cash to fund their protracted attempts to capture Gareth Barry from Aston Villa, having already splashed out £19million on Robbie Keane this week, while Curbishley is keen to appease disgruntled Hammers fans by making Benayoun a returning hero. The Israel playmaker became a crowd favourite at Upton Park after joining from Spanish side Racing Santander for £2.5million in July 2005, following West Ham's promotion to the Premier League. His first season in east London ended with an impressive display against Liverpool in the the FA Cup Final, and just 12 months later Rafa Benitez swooped with a £4.5million bid to lure him to Anfield. Benayoun has scored four goals in 30 appearances for the Reds and would become Curbishley's second summer signing, following the arrival of Swiss international defender Valon Behrami, who has made a £5m move from Lazio. Now I know I am going to get a right c***ting for posting this and I know the Daily Slug is not worth the paper you wipe your arse with. More to the point, would you have Yossi back? In all honesty, I would have him back in a heartbeat. Last season was on the verge of unbearable without any creativity within the team. *Stands back and prepares for c***ing*

Interesting one this - I'm on the fence.
Great player on his day, but did go missing occasionally.
Pissed everyone off in the manner he left.
Too puny to play CM, so would be on the right where we have loads of options.
Third point suggests that this ios just Mail bollox as usual.

No chance, expecially with Curbs in charge.

I remember Curbs saying how annoyed he was with Benayoun for what he did...and that he basically forced him to make a sale he did not want to make.

And Curbs was right. But if a former player who could aid our cause became available, is it reasonable to 'cut off our noses to spite our faces' based on some principled thinking lost and forgotten in the game?

would be a no for me, not sure he would fit in our squad any more.
we are loaded with right sided players
curbs seems to be going for pace rather than guile
plus I'm not sure i actually rate yossi, i don't think i've ever actually seen him properly strike a football. He chips everything, it drives me nuts.

Love to see him back.
West Ham legend. THAT goal against Villa. THAT goal against Spurs. THAT goal line clearance against Man Utd.

Yes, but only if the club included a clause in his contract that he couldn't say a damn word publicly about the reception the supporters give him during his first year back.

West Ham legend? Riiiight... He made his bed, now he can rot away in Scouse land for all I care. Little ****. I hope Curbs has enough sense to see this too which I fully believe he does.

Interesting point about nose cutting and face spiting. I took my kids for the first time to a match, when we played Richmond and Hampton. The boy wore colours and his sister had an England shirt from the market. They insisted I wore colours too and I only had an old 'Star of David' KUMB T-shirt, with YOSSI written on the back. Somebody bought it for me as a present. It was hotter than expected, so I took off my jacket at the ground. Anyone who noticed it made a sly comment. Not one person I spoke to (about KUMB or my shirt) was happy to see the latter. I don't think many people at UP would go crazy for Yossi's return. He's hardly a unique presence in world football anyway, even if he were persuaded to come back (which I find highly unlikely).

No way do I want him back. He's a selfish spoiled little brat with an over inflated opinion of his own talent who will be offski again whenever he or his agent think there's a better deal to be had. Let him rot on the red's bench where he was so desperate to be and then struggle for a move to Hull or somewhere in January.
