he may be gutsy, brave, tireless etc, but to me he is no better than any of the defenders we currently had, therefore we should be spending our money elsewhere.

If we could add a RB of Ilunga's qualities I think we would have a very good defending unit with plenty of potential for a good few years.

What short memories we seem to have. Gabbidon has just come back into training and the majority of you seem to be writing him off. Its the same deal with spector. If you dont see players play then its very easy to write them off. Both of them need to be given a chance to prove themselves before we decide they are no good.

Not really something I want to see in the first team though... Oh you are past it/not good enough/not recovered from injury, oh well we will look for a replacement in Jan? Never mind the points we drop between now and then.

What's funny is that anyone could come to a reasonable assesment of a players ability by watching some brief highlights on MOD as you said you had in your post.

what, so after years of watching newcastle's highlights and NEVER seeing him have a decent game I can't have an opinion? I suppose you watch all their games in full every week IMO, the kid is **** and we'd be ****ing mugs to buy him.

Taylor is Anton Ferdinand.
Bags of ability and good on the ball, but guarenteed to **** up at least once a game, which in the prem is simply not good enough.
Grit and determination a good footballer do not make!

I'm sure most footballers are prone to at least 1 f*ck up in a game. Name me a West Ham player in the last 3 seasons who haven't made a f*ck up in a game.

And judging by that recent pic in the new 'kit', it appears he's gained something of a smack habit of late. I'd avoid.

I'm talking about catastrophic **** ups that cost us a game. Like Antons double mistake against Berbatov against Spurs, or his pass back that sent Bellamy in when we played Sunderland. Taylor has the same problem.

FWIW I agree. I can't see the attraction. Gets caught out a lot from what I've seen, but like you all from my armchair on MotD. Not being a Newcastle fan obviously reduces the attraction to watching their games in their entirity!
