West Ham Utd 2 Liverpool 3 (19/09/09)
Date: Saturday 19/09/2009
KO Time: 5:30pm
Stadium: Boleyn Ground
SUBS: Kurucz, Spector, Gabbidon, Kovac, Stanislas, Noble, Hines
Key Man: Carlton Cole
Even men love Carlton Cole...
Looked tired after the international break and spent most of the game against Wigan in Titus Brambles pocket. He will probably spend much of the game by himself up front, so his skills at holding up the ball will really be under the magnifying glass. Hopefully he shows the form that had gotten him his England call up.
Previous Meeting: 0 West Ham VS Liverpool 3
Prediction:
With the (hopeful) return of Ilunga at left back as well as Behrami making a welcome return I hope we can put in a grittier performance than our last attempt at home against the Mickeys. I don't see us getting anything from the game (although Liverpool are due another “bad game), so I reckon a 0-0 draw.

Re: Match Thread: West Ham vs Liverpool
Ideally I would type it up and post it on Monday, but knowing these forums someone would start the thread before I posted mine up!red iron wrote::lol: and as if to fill us with optimisim after the Wigan result...

It's hard to not appear to be knee-jerking a predicition based on both ours and Liverpool's results today but...
We will get well and truly tonked.

I thought this game was a late kick off 5/5:15 on ESPN ?

Nice layout, Jon.
But I'd have our key man as either Green or Upson for this one.
Barlton being up top on his own next week against Liverpool's back four won't be pretty.

Bolton away on a Tuesday night followed by Man City away on a Monday  Your best bet is Fulham at home early October.JonG86 wrote:

Worth remembering Liverpool's last 4-0 home win was followed by a 3-1 defeat to a mid-table side in claret and blue. They have been a side of extremes so far this season. If we get the ***** one (and they're due a run-out), we could well get a result.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Liverpool: match thread
After losing 1-0 today and Liverpool winning 4-0 I'm going for a typical West Ham result 2-1 to us with 2 goals for Carlton Cole :raver: :raver:

At the risk of being pedantic, 0-0 is getting something from the game isn't it?JonG86 wrote:I don't see us getting anything from the game (although Liverpool are due another “bad game), so I reckon a 0-0 draw.
Personally I expect us to be battered, but we'll see - it's still early in the season and our side is far from settled.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Liverpool: match thread
Hopefully having Ilunga, Collison and Behrami (properly) back will make a big difference as well. Certainly think it'll be a very different line-up from today.
