Just been watching this on ESPN.

He still doesn't look fit - got subbed off on 52 mins.

He was playing right midfield and was tracking back to help out in defence, played an absolutely sublime cross field ball to set up a counter attack. Was a bit risky as he was on the edge of his own packed penalty box at the time but used a little 180 degree turn to spin his marker.

Former West Ham United man Alessandro Diamanti explains why he made the move to Brescia and changed his ways. “I want the Nazionale.”

The creative midfielder had only a handful of Serie A appearances under his belt for Livorno before switching to the Premier League, but is back for the Rondinelle.

“I came to Brescia out of recognition for Gianluca Nani, who was the director who brought me to West Ham,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I didn’t even consider the other offers, although the clubs that were looking for me included Parma and Fiorentina.”

Diamanti has undoubted talent, but admits his attitude was not always professional.

“I feel very much like the Livorno folk, as they don’t work much and go to the beach instead.

“If I had behaved like Antonio Cassano then I’d still be in Serie C2, but let’s not forget we are talking about a phenomenon of a player, so he can get away with more.

“I am convinced there are many Serie C players who can happily play in Serie A.

“When I was at Albinoleffe, I’d often go out clubbing, but now I have changed and came back to Italy in order to earn my place in the Nazionale.”

Lets see if he does well for the full season first before we upgrade him to a serie a player? I think he will be quite good in serie a the slower pace and more time on the ball will suit him better than the prem.

He is a quality player, I reckon a lot are hoping he fails, just to be proven right. It won't happen.

The thing with Diamanti, he wasnt particulalry skillful, his fitness wasn't the best and neither was his work rate. He was a luxury player but in saying that he only really took a good free kick or set piece once in a while. I wanted him to do well and tried to see the positives, but i just couldnt justify it. Saying that, he should have gone for a bit more than £1.8mill.

I hope he gets a run playing as a centre forward, rather than being played out wide when previously out on loan and by England.

He needs to bang a few goals in to help his confidence.

Yep...played in his proper position, in a team that understands his abilities. Beating a team who were top, being the only team who had won both their opening games.
