Tottenham 0 West Ham Utd 0 (19/03/11)Moderator: Gnome Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadAgree as all the teams at the bottom are picking up points when you don't expect them to. I can see us beating or equalling our record of going down with 42 points, but hope I'm wrong.
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadWait, I've just noticed. West Ham have beaten Tottenham this year over two legs making it a 1-0 win (just like Tottenham did over Inter, remember!) so being realistic, that must mean we are better than/or the same level as them
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
One win, one draw, one stadium.....hat-trick!!!!
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadGreat result today, absolutely brilliant.
Felt the team worked for each other today and Avram got it spot on. I cant really moan about any of the players as they really dug in and gave it a go. We did have Green and the woodwork to thank at times but felt we also had moments in the game where the build up was good - just lacking the composure/final ball. Both our full backs were immense - I really did fear both getting roasted before the game!! But they were fantastic. The team had a game plan and stuck to it well - with a bit of luck involved. The spurs side has players full of energy/movement so we were going to be up against it at times - as Parker once said "its not always going to be free flowing for us". Well done lads and the support was immense......felt like 3 points!!! Avram and the players........you have made me proud today!!!!
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
Make you right, they were well drilled today.
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match thread42 will be mid table this season. Its unique and a shock could become evident (e.g. Villa)
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadWonderful day out. After going to this fixtures for the past 3 years (having 0 points, even NO goals), resturning with a goalless draw can be called a succes. Ok, still no goal yet, but we keep that for next year!
Terrific performance from the team. Just what we want to see as fans: a gutty display with a lot of passion from the players. Ok, we could've easily lost 4-1 today, but let's not forget they are a quality side. 0-0 at Tottenham maybe doesn't sound THAT good, but these days it's just the same as getting a point at Chelsea. And despite the clear cut chances for the spuds, I thought we had some decent chances to put one away as well. Cole should've done better with his one on one. Noble was unlucky with his overhead kick and only a wonderful save from Gomes kept Ba from another goal. Hard to single any players out, but our best players were Upson, Bridge & O'Neill for me. Upson gets a lot of critics, but just like the Liverpool game, he showed us what concentrated Upson means to this team. He was up for it, getting a lot of clearances and organising the defence. Bridge was immense at LB, considering he was up against two players most of the time. O'Neill ran his socks off. He won't feature that much in match compilations, but he is very important in this team. Gives us the much needed balance. I already read that our tactics were spot on, but I'm not sure about that. Ok, we dealt with them pretty well, certainly in the second half. But we were struggling at the left really, due to Hitz playing more in the middle than on the left. If Bridge didn't have a great game like he had today, we would have even more troubles up there. Furthermore, we didn't hold the ball up enough up front. But ok, as said before: we played a quality side: we dealt with them well. Quality support today, we didn't shut up for one moment. Demba Ba bababab Demba Ba babababa!
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadI did the BBC predictor and we came out 15th with 43pts. Blackpool, WBA and Wigan went down.
For us I reckon Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea - anything is a bonus with those sort of games. Its the Bolton, Sunderland, Villa, Blackburn matches that will shape our season.
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadGreat performance, nice disciplined display from the team. Was ****ing brilliant sat in a pub with loads of Spurs mates getting more and more pissed off
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadyou ready for a long constructive comment?
... yeah thought so... **** game
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadcan't complain too much though we go the 1 point we deserved.
BUT, from where I was listening, it didn't sound too good. I had to listen on 5live I couldn't make it down today. Just gonna check out the green save on 101 though
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
Do you support Tottenham?
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
I wanted it 1-0 to us! not 0-0. This is where the premier league is flawed. The scoring system. If both teams score 0 then the moral is no point should be dished out. I'm not unhappy about the result. I just thought when I came back here tonight I'd see a couple of "**** game" posts so I'm just filling it in to make me feel better. No I support Irons!
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
Irs an easy solution, defend 20 yards higher and pressure the ball more. watch wolves, they can do it for 90 mins and they are not exactly a world class side. all good teams basically stroll to the edge of our box unchallenged. all footballers love having time on the ball and hate being pressurised. if you cant see that we do this week in week out then you are blind.
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadGreat result today, thought we looked solid and could have nicked it!
****ing brilliant day out though, great support as always, hamilton hall, inside liverpool st and the police escort were rocking, as it was in the ground! Proud to be West Ham today
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
I wouldn't say "great" result. Just a good result. We really wanted to have bagged those 3 points and shot up the table but sadly not. I can't beleive the amount of posts here bigging up just the 1 point and I in some sort of weird dream? We haven't beaten the ****ers since 90somthing.
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadThe same chances in another game and we could have lost 6-2. Thems the breaks and in our position you've got to take everything you can get.
Still a very rocky road ahead yet ... but optimism rules.
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match thread
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadCome on guys lighten up ffs. We should have lost, Defoe played awful and Spurs had so many chances to really thump us today. 4 points from them this year, that will do my nicely
Re: T*ttenham v West Ham Utd: match threadAs the Boss says...thems the breaks..we have played brilliantly (well going back a few years)
and come away with nowt.......we deserved a point for our endeavours. Especially as we are in the bottom three and this lot are playing Real Madrid very soon....
