Re: sunday's news 14th august includes west ham
THE OBSERVER: Gervinho managed to get sent off on his Arsenal league debut as Arsene Wenger's side made an unconvincing start to life without Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri on Tyneside.
THE INDEPENDENT: If this was the start of a new era for Arsenal after eight years of Cesc Fabregas, it could hardly have begun in more downbeat fashion. Also: England are on top of the world. The crushing defeat of India yesterday by an innings and 242 runs put them 3-0 ahead in the series and confirmed their status at the summit of Test cricket.
SUNDAY MIRROR: Joey Barton received a hero's ovation from the Toon army - and then became embroiled in an ugly pitch brawl. Also: Andrew Strauss challenged his England team to remain on top of the world after a third consecutive win over India at Edgbaston sent them to the summit of the official rankings.
SUNDAY EXPRESS: Andrew Strauss reckons England can start to terrorise cricket after crushing India to become the world's number one team. Also: The bully boys of the Premier League don't scare Sergio Aguero.
THE SUNDAY TIMES: Andrew Strauss warned that England would have to be on their mettle to stay number one in the Test rankings after claiming the position for the first time with a crushing victory over India at Edgbaston by an innings and 242 runs. Also: After two weeks of serious battling, it is Wales who now look the more convincing team as the World Cup approaches.
THE PEOPLE: Carlos Tevez's move to Inter Milan is still on - with Wesley Sneijder going to Manchester City as part of a swap deal. Also: Joey Barton was the villain again last night as Arsenal star Gervinho was sent off on his league debut.
DAILY STAR SUNDAY: Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini wants jet-heeled Spurs winger Aaron Lennon as the replacement for Bolton-bound Shaun Wright-Phillips. Also: Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has approached Manchester City for ex-Toon striker Craig Bellamy and left-back Wayne Bridge.
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: Arsene Wenger accused Joey Barton of pretending to be hurt in order to get Gervinho sent off in yesterday's bad-tempered 0-0 draw with Newcastle at St James' Park.
THE MAIL ON SUNDAY: Joey Barton was at the centre of ugly scenes yet again as the start of the new Premier League season was marred by stamping, diving and slapping rows.

What a shame there is absolutely no chance we will get Samuel Eto'o ~ Albeit, 2 years past his prime, he is exactly the type of goalscorer / striker that we need to play off CFC or Johnny Carew. Now that combo really would tear up this league. So now you all know precisely what I mean by what I have been saying on here for years now by a small, waspish type goal taker in the Tony Cotte mould. Picture Eto'o in your minds and you have it in one
