Olympic decision upheld

Postby yonni on Mon Aug 22, 2011 8:41 am

From BBC:

An independent investigation has upheld the decision to award West Ham the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Games, BBC Sport has learned.

The review concluded there is no reason to re-open the bidding process.

More to follow.

All I want to hear is some sort of backlash against Spurs. Surely this has got to damage them sooner or later.

This is only the review of whether the bidding process was flawed by the appointment of Dionne Knght as a consultant - Spurs are still pursuing their judicial inquiry review which has its oral hearing on Wednesday.

From the BBC
But the result will be another setback for Tottenham, who are still challenging the decision.

They want a judicial review and, despite having their first request rejected, are due to present evidence again at an oral hearing at the High Court on Wednesday.

If the court rules in Tottenham's favour then that could cause serious delays for the OPLC who are trying to negotiate a final agreement with West Ham and their partners Newham Council.

GB has applied for the 2017 World Athletic Championships. That is very significant because it seems they have got the nod that Spuds are not going to get anywhere. Lets just hope that they get dragged into the phone hacking mess like the ***** they are!

True, but where there's smoke, there's fire. That was probably more likely to cause us problems than the enquiry. The result I'm waiting for is the ongoing police investigation into Spurs phone & email hacking. That'll probably end up with a third party being held responsible and Spurs were "totally unaware of the metods employed" or some other kwrap.

This may be true but it certainly wont help their case will it? What it is saying is

'don't waste your time or any more public money on this m'lud as you will find nothing untoward and therefore West Ham will get the stadium anyway'

Does anybody else think that the timing of this is contrived, bearing in mind the decision to bid for the World Athletics Championship was announced last week?

Or maybe it's purely a coincidence, hum

Oh well. Maybe it'll be a good way to keep fit. Watch the match, go for a job around the running track after instead of the pub. We could have the fittest fans in the country.

How about half time dog races? More money for the club and more entertaining than the fake tan dancing girls.

Not really. That is Spuds application, who need to get past the leave stage (on Wednesday) and then succeed at a full appeal.

I reckon that the "corporate investigators" have done one on Spuds by goin to the press with their info and methods instead of reoprting directly back to Spuds...Really very hopeful that there will be high ranking officials from them having a forced holiday at her Majesty's expence over this.

And Liverpool/ Everton will not be able to sell an away ticket if we build a job centre on the track

Just be patient - the private dicks searching through bin bags and phone records part of this has hardly been investigated yet. Some nice potential for embarrassment there, particularly given everyone's current distaste for that kind of thing after the phone hacking.

Isn't there rules about bringing the game into disrepute or something? Surely those rules are being broken as well?
