As long as Captain Marvel isn't in the starting XI we will be fine. It takes truly inspirational leadership to be captain of the strongest squad in the league by a country mile and lead them to a sensational 5th place and 1 home win after 7 games.

Time, I think, for a spell with the West Ham Development Squad for Kevin, so he is able to learn some basic footballing techniques alongside technically sound footballers like Kieran Sadlier, Sergio Sanchez, Elliot Lee, George Moncur and others.

West Ham United Starting XI To Face Peterborough United:-
GK: Robert GREEN

RB: Joey O'BRIEN
CB: Winston REID
CB: Abdoulaye FAYE
LB: George McCARTNEY

RW: David BENTLEY
CM: Mark NOBLE(c)
CM: Henri LANSBURY
LW: Matthew TAYLOR

FW: Carlton COLE
FW: Sam BALDOCK

SUBS: BOFFIN(GK), DEMEL, COLLISON, FAUBERT, SEARS.

What's the score with Brian Montenegro?

Has he been playing for the development squad?

I am making the 250 mile journey down for the weekend to attend this one. Surely we can finally give somebody a spanking at The Boleyn? 3-1 to us (with them scoring in the 99th minute of course  ).

We must win now Posh-Hammer started the thread, and after the calls to drop Nolan, you know he's going to score. I'd like to see us get Baldock involved, start him alongside Cole, let's see what he can do? If we are going to be in the automatic promotion places, games like this are must wins. Not saying it's an easy game, and I'll take a scrappy 1-0 win. Nolan with the winner, just for Posh-Hammer.

This should be a good game of football and think Peterborough will have a go. Just hope we play some football on the deck. We have a whole week to prepare for this one with no distractions. They've scored 14 league (18 in all competitions) and we've scored 15 league goals.

Think we'll win but have no idea as to the score, another 4-3 ?. :)

I'm making a 3,000 mile trip. First time back at the Boleyn for over ten years. We're coming in from far and wide.

3-1 would do nicely.

Having seen us ship 6 goals at home in 3 games, there's a danger a team like this with no fear or respect of reputations could turn us over.

We look vulnerable at the back at times and with Tomkins likely to be out for a few weeks, we can't afford to be giving away anything at the back. We must be positive going forward to beat this lot. I'd like to see us go with 2 up front for this and go for the throat.

There should be plenty of chances to score and if we come out the blocks quickly, could do our goal difference a lot of good. Sit back and encourage a team like this, they won't need a 2nd invitation.

Got a few nagging concerns with this game and the way we've been playing at home, but it's gotta click properly at some point soon; so more in hope, it may as well be in this game - 3-0, 1st clean sheet at home.

I'm thinking much the same.

We do need to start making playing 5 across the middle count for us though...

Thanks NJ  You are right of course. You just know that Nolan will score, even though he hasnt done much else to date. What I would really like to see is Tomkins back, but I think Faye and Reid will do ok against this mob. No way will it be easy, this will be the big game for them, like all the others, but I am still sticking by my 3-1 prediction.

Peterborough's Form (by standard of opposition - top to bottom)

(3rd) Brighton a 0-2
(7th) Blackpool a 1-2
(8th) Hull h 0-1
(12th) C Palace h 2-1
(15th) Millwall a 2-2
(19th) Ipswich h 7-1
(21st) Burnley h 2-1

So:

* No clean sheets in any of their 7 games
* 3 straight losses against top half teams
* 2 goals conceded on their travels in every game

Got to be a home win really.

NB Their double goalscorer yesterday - Emile Sinclair

I'm gonna stick me neck out and go for a 3-0 West Ham.

Peterborough may score goals but they also conceed a shed load as well. They scored 106 goals last season but conceeded 75,only Bristol Rovers who got relegated conceeded more than them. So as long as we keep it tight at the back, which I'm confident we can do,then I can't see their defence coping with us going forward. :)

Faubert needs to be dropped for this, how some people on here can say he was MOTM yesterday is beyond me. Bentley looked lively when he came on yesterday so i would start him. Big Sam needs to start with 4-4-2 for this if he doesn't i don't think we'll see 4-5-1 all season.

On paper we should win by 3 clear goals but knowing West Ham it will be a scrappy one nil win.
