New stadiumFor me, the only positive about the whole Olympic Stadium debacle was the thought that we could move away from Upton Park - the area.
The thought we could move somewhere with decent transport links in a more (only slightly) desirable area. I mean, I live a couple of miles away and when the District Line is down (which seems like every week) it can sometimes take me a good couple of hours to get home. That for me is the reason why redeveloping the east stand is out of the question, another 10k people in the area would be an absolute nightmare and it certainly doesn't improve the transport links. So it has got me thinking about the Iceland's original plan for a new ground by West Ham Station which would certainly improve the transport problems (West Ham seems to have benefitted from the Olympic development). Also, Orient couldn't complain if we move there. A stadium of about 50k at West Ham would be perfect. I know we are a Championship club and The Boleyn is fine for the moment blah de blah, but with Arsenal and their new ground and Chelsea and Spurs looking likely to also get new 60k stadiums we are at threat of being left behind of the other big London clubs even further.
Re: New stadiumWe just need to find £400 million down the back of the sofa.
Re: New stadiumWasnt the problem with the post office site the fact that it is on contaminated ground (the gas works) and too expensive to build on?
Even the Icelandics when they were chucking money around baulked at this one, as the did with the O/S.
Re: New stadiumI thought O/S is built on ancient native indian warriors graveyard.
Re: New stadium
Gold and Sullivan have wet our appetite for a new stadium now. Let's hope they put their hands in their pockets!
Re: New stadiumYou think they've got some oil wells hidden away no one knows about?
