West Ham Utd 4 Blackpool 0 (15/10/11)Moderator: Gnome Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadWas a cracking day! Atmosphere was a bit flat, but I guess that is nothing new. Still, not a bad first home game to chose!
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadMy impression was that Dioup was very good, not just holding, but advancing with intent when safe to do so with Nolan only then dropping back, like old fashioned wing halves.
And Nolan was also performing well at both ends. After his cross field pass from about 40 yards out to Faubert which led to the goal, he was alongside Carew for the cross.
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match thread
Agree with that. I thought about the atmosphere too - I mean there we were winning 4 - 0 and I'm thinking it could be 7 but it was pretty flat. Bring on my next away trip Coventry where we have approx 4,000 seats. Best laugh was downstairs at half time in the Chicken Run, some fella's birthday and it was like being in a social club!! No stripper turned up though!!
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadOn my way to the game I just knew that we were in for a good game, felt it in my water.
Cracking day, great weather, a few pints of the black stuff in the Queens. Great crowd in the Sir Trevor lower (K140 - N150). Great atmosphere. All in all a very enjoyable day.
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadAtmosphere has been poxy for a while now, with exception of derby games. The best I can remember for a while was Ispwich in playoffs, the place was bouncing that evening.
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match thread
That was probably the best night atmos-wise in about the last decade, maybe a few more decent home wins like Saturday (about time!) and the atmosphere will start to pick up. Maybe if we go top of the table?

Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadA few thoughts post-game:
1. thought Carew was absolutely outstanding - one of the best centre forward performances I have seen in a long while - I've been one of carlton's supporters for a while but the difference between the two is frightening. 2. Diop was fantastic - at home, the formation from saturday is definitely the way to go with nolan and diop in the middle and hopefully meaning we dont see noble for a while. 3. Baldock is what we have been missing since bellamy left.
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match thread
He doesn't seem like a moaning prick whos always injured to me?!
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadSorry, Southend...me and Sam know best, we will select Noble in place of Collison tomorrow.
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadDont know if anyone has posted this already but here is a video containing 15 mins of audio of the crowd from the game, the groundsman episode is around 13 minutes.

Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadThis will be my only match of the season as I am back in Canada. But what a cracker. Much better than the Birmingham match I got to see last year.
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match thread
Cheers for posting that
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadThought Faubert was very good and his delivery better than usual
Shame he'll leave on a free at the end of the year, really
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match thread
Get this!! Really great thing about Faubert on Saturday was that cross for Carew! Total moany prick behind me screams "Well done Faubert another sh*t cross" And then Carew leaps to put us one up!! BEAUTIFUL
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadWinston Reid would have got my motm, if it wasnt for Baldocks goals.
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadHas Saludo been on recently or is he still counting windows?
Good performance, good win, and the 4th time in 11 we have scored 4 goals.
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match threadA late reflection...any thoughts.
My initial summary was that Taylor didn't contribute much, probably 'cos I hadn't seen much wing play from him, but seeing the highlights later he put through three clever through balls from the centre of midfield.(could have been anybody from where I was sitting!) Would it have been planned to bring him inside to give a bit of creativity rather than width? Certainly Linda was getting forward well, maybe to compensate. Or is he not an out and out wide player any more?
Re: West Ham Utd v Blackpool: match thread
Matty has just come back from injury and that was his first game since it, Saying that i think he is out again for tonight's match
