it's about cost vs benefit isn't it.
Personally, I doubt that Diouf is a good enough player to be worth the harm it will do to Sam's standing with the fans.

From Grusome Dump on WHO, who is usually well informed
Diouf is training to prove fitness. He has not signed. SA wants him on a short-term deal. Board VEHEMENTLY against it. Allardyce has final say.
O'Neil had a further setback today. Career in doubt. Feb earliest.
Oh, and Lansbury is out for eight weeks...

Nope, does Barton even get in trouble that often? yea he does things that might incite the crowd etc but he rarely does anything like spit on someoneHammer Laffers wrote:

Re: Is this Diouf?
Myself and my 11 year old daughter were on the second row that day when he spat at us. Three times. Laughing along with Milan Baros. Later that night, was on 606. The week after, NOTW did a piece in it as well as Talk Sport I think. My written complaints to Merseyside Police went very high indeed and in fact eventually Rick Parry wrote an apology to me. I knew then he was scum. Time has proven so and that it was not an isolated example.
When we signed Lee Bowyer, there were many against it. Time proved it was ill-advised. There is no doubt that supporters are an expedient bunch but in this case, it's a big massive no. West Ham is a club of principles and integrity. Big Sam has my support but honestly if he does it for "footballing" reasons, it won't stack up as will be an unnecessary distraction and likely to affect team morale.
Big Sam - you don't know the history. He spat at us three times. And laughed about it. And then lied. He is not a West Ham player. Please just SAY NO.

I'll give you that, Barton has never spat on someone as far as I know.Hammer Matty wrote:

But he has kicked the **** out of a 13 year old who was giving him a bit of stick, had to be restrained by his team mates.
Broke a 35 year old's leg whilst driving through Manchester
Oh and kicked the **** out of and stubbed a cigarette out of a youth teams player's eye, causing serious head injuries and a detatched retina.
Amongst other things.
But yeah Diouf is much worse for spitting apparently

Sorry to disturb this debate, especially when I have my own going on, but even the slightest of blows to the head can give you a brain injury.DICAN10 wrote:

Re: Is this Diouf?
It says it all really JonnyMoncs!! Thanks for the contribution here.
If we sign Diouf it would not only be an insult to all (most) West Ham fans, it would also be an insult to Montano and Hall. I am certain they would do a better job than Diouf does nowadays, They do also have the right to feel a part of our team, Diouf never.
If it comes to life, I can hardly ever support Big Sam again.... as he then prefer to buy an awful mercenary than listen to the Fans- and support our young talent.
Diouf would hardly "playing-wise" set the team alight anyhow, but if so... for me; Diouf can do three hat tricks in a row if he wants to, I do not want him near our shirt anyhow....
