We have to be sensible when/if we go back up, and while paying over the odds for a crock and being overly-sentimental fools are both very West Ham traits, we should do our best to avoid succumbing to both of these instincts regarding Rio
Exactly how I feel Facey. I like Rio, got a lot of time for him, but signing a 34 year old injury prone defender, who will be 35 by the time next season ends is asking for trouble. If it was any other player than Rio, we would be screaming blue murders about signing yet another has been, and the reality of the matter, Rio is fast becoming a has been. He has lost his speed, and he has never lost the habit of fallling asleep occasionally, but his 34 old body ain't got the reactions any more to make up for it. We have two very good young CB's, who,
if the club play it right, could be one of the best central defence partnerships we have had for donkeys. That's if we can keep hold of them of course.
With a heavy heart, it's a no from me. A couple of years ago, yes, but in 9 months time. No thank you.
