New Forum look

Postby POP POP POP Robson on Fri Nov 25, 2011 1:49 pm

Apologies if there is already a discussion for this as I couldn't find anything. With this new smaller text size Kumb I understand you can change the size at the top left of the home page. But when I increase the size of the text and go to the forum it seems to be reverting to the smaller size which even with my varifocals is a bit too small for me.

Is it because I'm using Google Chrome?

Pop,

It looks as if the option you describe is confined to the HOME page.

(Bear in mind I'm in Linux, but I can't see that the browsers should behave any differently in Windows):

In Chrome you can click on the SPANNER (top right), and you will see a ZOOM option.
There doesn't seem to be much scope for fine tuning, but clicking on the "+" icon will certainly make it larger!

In Firefox
Click on View and you will see a ZOOM option.

A little trick I was told and works for me.
Press control and use the scroll on your mouse.

CTRL and the + key works if you don't have a wheeled mouse.

CTRL with +/- and CTRL with mouse-wheel seems to be a universal short-cut
- it even works on Midori, which has no obvious ZOOM icon that I can see !

Thanks guys. The control plus mouse wheel worked. I assumed there was a forum upgrade which had changed the text size but obviously it was just me. :)

FWIW, we've changed nothing recently and I have no idea what y'all are talking about :)

Home page looks fine to me (on Chrome). What am I missing?

No worries, UTJ

The Home Page has an option to enlarge the text size and Pop was wondering if that change shoulld also work on the other
pages of the site.
But it appears that most (if not all) browsers have a ZOOM function which can be operated by pressing the CTRL key
and either rotating the mouse-wheel or pressing the "+" key.

Yes it's fine now. For a while the forum looked tiny but it must have just been my browser settings.

To confirm, the 'alter text size' option does not extend to the forum. As you say, it's a fairly redundant option these days due to improved browser functionality.
