Probably already been said but the fact that Potts had leukaemia two years ago and signed as a full-time pro yesterday is quite an incredible story. Well played young man, well played indeed.

They were clearly making it up as they went along today. Piq spent most of the first half being told where to play.

Fair's fair though. They got over the line.

An unaccpetable performance with the best XI - but with a 17 yr old at LB, a LB at centre back, Faubert at RB and Cole in a sort of wide player position - I thought they adapted well.

i'm trying to think when i last saw a west ham side with a more out-of-position look to it.. i.e. macca at centre back  lansury comes in......at right back.....piq as...well, i dont know, kind of floating around the midfield! we joked about sam setting the team up like that to prove to G&S he needs some new players....hmmmm!

either ways, three points and on!

Thought I'd post my after match thoughts separately.

Firstly, WTF was that pre kick off bollox with "Hammerhead"? Fair enough, mildly amusing when giving it to the Barnsley 500 but apart from that I found it cringeworthy beyond belief.

As for the game itself, Diop's goal was a cracker, great corner and thumping header. After that I thought we gave them too much posession in midfield in first half and Perkins was running the show. Should have had a stonewall penalty in first half or at least it looked like it all the way from BMU. Cole missed a great chance after he'd done all the hard work too, so half time and1-0, I expected better in second half, and got it. We could have easily won 4-0 but again we didn't take the chances we had. Another penalty was missed by referee. In the end, we got 3 points and given our injury and suspensions etc, I am happy with that.

Carlton worked his nuts off today but he is too selfless for a striker, he needs to be more selfish and shoot rather than passing or trying to walk the ball in the net.

Faubert had a good game (again) and I was massively impressed by Danny Potts' debut. He was assured, comfortable on the ball and put in some good, accurate crosses. I feel so old that I have witnessed two generations of the Potts family making their debuts!

I thought he was a shoe-in for MOM but I didn't think the booing was fair. Nolan had a good game today, not as good as Potts by a long way but he didn't deserve to hear booing straight after the announcement that he was MOM - even if it was directed at the decision rather than at Nolan himself.

Well done today lads. Good win considering all the injuries.

Thought MOM was Diop today. Potts did very well too on his debut. Only seen him play that one time but he looked a lot better crossing balls in than Mccartney. His long passing to the strikers seemed to me, less aimless than Mccartney has been this season also.

The performance of Potts today, I hope, encourages Big Sam to give more of our younger players a try.

How I saw it mate.

We were all over the shop today with some dodgy performances and mass injuries.

3 points against a decent side.

I think they were booing because Potts didn't get it.

This I could understand if a Barnsley player got it.

Thanks for making me laugh Vaz Te. The dive in the first half when you threw yourself to the ground under a minimal push from Faubert with the ball obviously heading out did raise a smile

Sam's lack of a youth blooding policy needs a rethink.

When we are getting so low in senior numbers it makes sense to give youngsters a couple of 20 minute cameos before they are pushed into the deep end and have to do a full 90 minutes.

The bloke who runs the Chinese take-away in Green St was outside looking for him.

Someone above said Faubert had a good game...he never has.

How to impress:

Intercept 2 or 3 bad passes and steam forward like a cat with the same end product.

You're beyond judgement with this bloke, IB. Whatever he does, you seek out the negative.

And you're normally one of the more reasonable posters. :?

More influential today in putting us on the front foot than your poster boy, Noble.

You have to get hold of the ball to show off your ability. Faubert was important in that today as our midfield was anonymous for 30-35 minutes. It was the back line plus Cole that dragged us into the game.

You are right! I can see no quality in him.

The amount of possession he has should be more productive.
