Re: The dinner threadMade a pizza last night. Better than adequate, but only just. Was going to pick up steaks, but couldn't be arsed to brave the cold.
Going to pick up some beef in a bit - brisket, if I can get it, or something similar, and make a big pot of chili, done slow for a few hours. Stick it in the oven about 2, walk to the pub for a beer or a glass of wine with the family, stroll home & eat. Maybe some basmati rice on the side, or some lightly toasted tortillas.
Re: The dinner threadThat chili was EPIC. Flavoured with my precious last can of Chipotle peppers in Adobo sauce, paprika, hot chili powder, and medium fresh red chili peppers. A kilo of Tesco Finest stewing steak (excellent value at £8 a kg from their meat counter), 2 cans of tomatoes, 3 cans of kidney beans (2 in water, 1 in chili sauce), 3 capiscum peppers, 2 red onions - 3.5 hours at 150C.
Re: The dinner threadToad in the hole with mash, peas and gravy last night. Jacket potato tonight with cheese.
Re: The dinner threadWholegrain rice, cannelinni beans, salmon, pint of water (and a cheeky sausage wrapped up in a slice of bread while I was preparing it)
Re: The dinner threadSausage egg and chips last night, shepherds pie tonight.
Re: The dinner threadhad iceberg lettuce with feta, black olives and tuna yesterday.
still not sure about today, maybe pasta. olive oil, garlic and chilli peppers could be the winner.
Re: The dinner threadLast night I stripped some cooked chicken thighs and marinaded them in soy sauce, sugar, fish sauce, ginger and garlic, then stir fried with mange tout, beansprouts, spring onions and noodles.
Re: The dinner thread5 rasher BLT in Multigrain bread, half a pint of semi skimmed milk.
Re: The dinner threadSmall Cod, medium chips, mushy peas & tartare. Fish & chips went in a preheated oven/tray for 10 minutes on return, thus ensuring a splendid crunchiness to the batter & spuds.
Sublime.
Re: The dinner thread
Where'd you get it...?
Re: The dinner threadRack of ribs and chips
Re: The dinner threadEgg and beans on toast.
Re: The dinner thread
Chippy on Weybridge high street. Not sure if there's much alternative round here for F&C, but they haven't let me down yet.
Re: The dinner thread
Remains one of my all-time favourite dinners. Ideally with home-made chips.
Re: The dinner threadI'm on day four of being knocked out by flu and an ear infection.
My dinner each day has been a can of soup and fresh buttered roll. I wanna hurry up and get better so I can have a right proper munch-out.
Re: The dinner thread
A nice big mixed grill on the cards DL?
Re: The dinner thread
Thought you were gonna say that. Been going there in all it's various guises on and off for over 20 years (it's actually Church Street) You're right, there isn't a lot of alternative. There's a decent one in Terrace Road, Walton run by a couple of tiddlys which is pretty good...
Re: The dinner thread
Church street! I meant Church street, yeah. Not like I've lived here two and a half years or anything. If I'm honest, I barely know the name of my own street, let alone any others. Dunno if it's because I tend to drive everywhere, but I've never been that hot on street names. I tend to navigate by junctions and landmarks. Feeble, I know. But yeah, that chipper's looked after us well since we moved in. There's also a decent one on a crossroads on the Laleham side of Shepperton I used to go to a lot when I lived in Charlton Village about a decade back. Has to be said, you really cannot beat Fish & Chips when it's cold outside, and you've had a long week at work.
Re: The dinner thread
Too right. Big fat juicy steak, pork chop, 3 cumberland sausage, 2 duck eggs, 4 grilled toms, mushrooms, beans, and 4 hash browns. It's in the fridge and freezer waiting to be devoured.
