WEST HAM’S nervy stars must win the “biggest game of their lives” to reach the Premier League.
Boss Sam Allardyce has all but accepted his unhappy Hammers will miss out on automatic promotion and have to cope with a play-off final if they want to go up.
Big Sam said: “If we are to go up automatically we will need someone to do us a favour.
“If not, it’s about preparing yourself properly for a game the players will never experience anything like in their life.
“There is nothing to compare to it. And you’ve got to handle the pressure that comes with it

West Ham's Nolan: Count on us going up at Wembley
Kevin Nolan has backed West Ham to win promotion through the playoffs if they cannot catch Southampton.
The Saints, who are five points clear with two games to go, will guarantee a return to the Premier League with victory over Middlesborough on Saturday.
And although Hammers skipper has not given hope of the second automatic promotion spot, he said winning their final two games at Leicester and Hull would also ensure momentum going into the playoff showdowns.
“Hopefully Southampton lose two, we win two and we go up,” Nolan said. “If not, we have got to make sure we win our next two to keep our momentum going into the playoffs.
“You never say never but that is the way it goes. We have to make sure we dust ourselves off from this result and try and go and win our next two.
“Form going into the playoffs is crucial - you have got to keep the winning mentality going. We have won a lot of games this season and we have to ensure we keep doing that until the end of the season and finish on as many points as we can.
“If we get six points from our next two games, that will stand us in good stead for the playoffs if we have to go in them.
"I am very confident that if we go through the playoffs, we will go up that way. You have got to be confident with the squad we have got.
“We want to give the fans what they deserve and that is getting back into the Premier League.
"Hopefully we can do that April 28 - and if not, on May 19.”

West Ham and Sunderland youngsters extend Dons stay
DONS have extended loans for both George Moncur and Billy Knott until the end of the season.
The worry for Brown is that Knott picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-0 defeat to Southend and now awaits word to see if the on-loan Sunderland midfielder can face Crawley on Saturday.
Knott went down in a heap on 36 minutes admist a tangle of bodies – but as Brown pointed out the extended loan was a done deal before the game.
He said: “We’ll just have to wait and see how Billy is, but we just lost three centre halves – I can’t afford to lose two more players and we’ve extended their time with us.”

Big Sam Reflects
After a 1-1 draw, down in the West Country, Big Sam steadfastly refuses to accept that our chances of automatic promotion have gone.
Speaking after the news had filtered through that Reading were promoted and Southampton had won at Peterborough, Big Sam had this to say,
"It`s difficult for us now. And we`ve only got ourselves to blame."
"We had so many chances. We`ve got to take it on the chin."
"The nerve-ends were jangling and there was no margin for error."
"Maybe our keeper should have done better for their equalizer."
"But he`s saved us plenty of times this season and anyway we shouldn`t have needed to worry because of our dominance in the game."
But, after praising them in recent weeks, Sam couldn`t resist having a pop at the strike force again, after several chance sot wrap the game up went begging,
"We didn`t find the quality of finish."
"And that was maybe because the nerve-ends were jangly because we were so desperate."
"We lost our composure in front of goal. We need Middlesbrough to beat Southampton on Saturday."
Sorry to say it Sam, but I can`t see it happening - it`s the play-offs for us!

Tweets of the Week: Are West Ham fans right to be talking about Wembley?
West Ham fans discuss all things Hammers with our correspondent Nathaniel John.
Join in the discussion on Twitter @Nathaniel_John This week, Hammers reveal whether fans are right to be thinking about a play-off final at Wembley before the semi-finals have even been decided.
I can’t stress any more that we can’t guarantee that we will get past the semi-finals. Then there is the stomach-wrenching stuff at Wembley – @Apisadmirer
If we play like we did against Birmingham and Brighton then we will get there, but miss chances like we did at Bristol and we won’t. Take each game at a time – @McGrath88
There is a mixture of blind optimism and utter despondency among West Ham fans. I think we’ll do it – @Tommy_OConnor
Totally wrong to be thinking about Wembley and the play-off final. One game at a time – @PercyBlakeney63
We can talk about the play-offs all we like but I for one can’t see us winning them. The team has got the talent, but not the bottle – @ljt1970lee
I’d fancy our chances over two legs against anyone except Reading, who fortunately won’t be in the play-offs – @niall_mcdonald
West Ham fans are not right talking about a Wembley final. They’ve been talking about automatic promotion all season. Too delusional and, therefore, expectant – @ChrisGordon77
We are not going anywhere until we learn to defend. Too many dropped points because of dreadful defending. Errors week in, week out – @oakey_dokey
It’s all fine talking about a day out at Wembley and doing things the hard way but we still have to do it! The Brighton game was a must win and we won 6-0. Last night was also a must win and we drew. Jekyll and Hyde United – @Nigel_Harwood22
We must take one game at a time and not get carried away. I have said from the start of the season that we would struggle as soon as we were labelled favourites – @Ben_Collins332
If anyone can get us through the play-offs it will be Big Sam. He has had one objective this season and that is promotion at any cost. Now we get to see what this team is made of – @ThomasClarke123
I think the problem is that Sam doesn’t know his best starting XI. He needs to have some idea who he will play in the play-offs first. It should be the same team home and away – @DPD65
We need to get winning momentum or we are going nowehere but the Championship next season – @765ILangton

Re: thursday's news 19th april includes west ham
I would rather go up through the play offs than via second place in a way, however this is West Ham and as the saying goes "Many a slip twixt cup and lip". If the financial rewards were not as great as they are I would be happy to get another season down here, but I fear the worst if we do.

Cheers mate
Can actually see Boro getting a result they need the points too.
And us winning. Giving us that little last glimpse of hope, only to see it dashed with the next Soton game being a loss but us getting pummeled ...
