In fairness, Piquionne was one of the team's few shining lights in the early months of the 2010/2011 season.

His influence wained after Christmas, and he never recovered.

He scored two important goals this term, and played a small role.

It's the lack of effort that annoyed me, he put in effort for the first few months when he signed and was very good after that and even with a new start and change of manager he still seemed to think it was a training session, disgusting attitude, it's no wonder he's gone down three times he is so lackadaisical and puts no effort in and seems to not care.

He's no Jamie Devitt who played a part in 3 sides getting relegated in one season back in 09-10.

Presumably, Piquionne is back with us afterSaturday's final game.

Anyone know how he is doing recovering from his calf injury?

Have to be honest, I'd prefer to see him up front in the target man role than Carew if Cole can't overcome his knocks.

This guy is so frustrating. I geuninely believe he has ability, if he can be bothered to apply himself.

I've seen him show a great first touch, leap to control a ball on his chest that other guys would have struggled to head, brilliant headers like the one v Everton and do some pretty tasty things. However my abiding memory of him will be him just shrugging his shoulders or not being bothered to chase passes.

Fans respect players who try, even if they are poor players, but players who have the talent and are lazy make them angry. Piquionne makes me angry.

Piq has got to be nailed on as "offered around on a free" in the summer. No one wants him, least of all WH.

Piquionne back for the playoffs ?

Postby HamburgHammer on Sun Apr 29, 2012 11:10 am

His loan at Doncaster is over now, right ? Last I heard he had a bit of a calf injury anyway. But am I right in assuming that technically he is back with our team now and could play a part in the playoffs as well ?
IIRC we have seven subs on the bench for the playoffs, so if push came to shove, would you put him on the bench rather than Carew ?

Yes and Yes.

If Cole gets injured, either Piq or Nouble has to be available to let us maintain a pattern of play.

We were shocking yesterday playing 4-4-2 with the litte fellas and Maynard really hasn't done it much when played as a lone front man.

The last time I saw Nouble I thought he looked quite good, ran at players, held the ball up well and could have had a goal or even two IIRC.

I'd choose Piq over Carew for a spot on the bench each and every time.

What is the news on Piquionne ? His loan at Doncaster should be finished with the season over. Is he still harbouring this calf injury of his ? Would he be available to play any part in the playoffs for us ?
Or is he categorically out of favour with Big Sam and West Ham and has played his last game in claret and blue (unless he signs for Villa, Burnley or Scunthorpe of course...) ?

He did. When the final whistle went and the cameras turned to Collison on the bench, Piq walked past with Diop etc.
