Yes indeed. Worth noting that even at the sides (particularly this side) the gap is much wider than, say, the Olympicstadion in Berlin. That's to make the athletics sightlines better for watching runners coming around the bends. Those same sightlines that KB moronically mumbled as a positive for football. However, do note that the view to the pitch isnt really that bad compared to other large stadia like Wembley, as the pitch is closer on the diagonal thanks to the smaller vertical distance.

i sit in the bm lower....2 rows from the front....i am within spitting distance of the action...and have had a chat with rob green during the match

there aint a seat in that stadium you can do that from

as for temporary stands...what a load of b*llocks...were a club with over 100 years history...tradition....we deserve a purpose built ground which is fit for purpose with state of the art facilities...not a load of temporary seats over a track and a trek to go for a piss in an outside bog

im all for progress, but i cant see how this is going to be right for our club...especially when we are whoring ourselves out to try and sell tickets for a 35k stadium, yet believe that 25000 are simply going to come out of the woodwork as soon as we move?

Let's be honest, this who,e thing was designed for people to look at what's goi on around the pitch, not on it...and I don't think the views are particularly good unless the action is happening directly in front of you

It's miles from the touchline though, a football pitch isn't as wide as an athletics field neither !

The same one that was told to design a stadium that could seat 80,000 people and then be converted to a 25,000 seat stadium afterwards, therefore all those facilities wouldn't be needed so it was cheaper to build them outside than incorporate them into the structure. I believe the plan is to bring them inside in the conversion be effing stupid if they didn't.

There are numerous 'vomitoriums' as theyre called which spew people out onto the concourse. It really isnt an issue. The stuff about things being inside/ outside is a bit of a red herring in this respect anyway as the toilets already are under the canopy of the stadium - its just that they will need to be made a bit more sturdy.

There's almost always workarounds to any proposition, it's more to do with attitude than practicality. If the attitude is anti stadium then it's as big an issue as can be made of it, impossible even. In reality the toilets being where they are clearly weren't envisaged as being problematical for the Olympics, and the Olympics will prove whether that assumption was right or not. If right all well and good, if not right then its not some impossible task for Hercules to move toilets.

Again an anti attitude leading to the wrong conclusion - Outside kiosks are probably a good idea for the Olympics because wait for it they're not only intended to serve the stadium, they're intended to serve anybody in that part of the Olympic Park many of whom won't actually be going into the stadium but will be looking round while attending non stadium events.

And like the toilets, once the Olympics are over its not some impossible task for Hercules to shift fast food and merchandise kiosks.

These things really do make sense if looked at with a neutral attitude and they aren't major problems

From what i can see having these areas outside of the main stadium is better than having them sandwiched down some tiny corridor - its great for freedom of movement. Of course, in the depths of midwinter it'll make for a cold couple of minutes while youre buying your bovril before you get back in under the main canopy, but at other times of year i think the space in the 'island' will be greatly appreciated.

At the SAB meeting Karen Brady identified some serious flaws in the stadium design, which for staging an event of this magnitude are pretty shocking. These will be rectifed should we win the bid to occupy it.

I was at the GoldChallenge event and the views to the pitch are nowhere near as bad many seem to think.

The pods are actually a good idea, both in the short term for the Olympics, plus potentially should we take over also for longer term. The way they are utlised will obviously need rethinking but there's potential.

I see the point that you're getting at, in a stadium where there's restricted corridor space people flow is slow therefore amenities need to be closer. In a stadium with huge concourses people walk to where they're going without restriction so amenities can be further away - That's almost certainly part of the thinking.

Ally that to the outside services for the Olympics serve all visitors to the park not just visitors to the stadium and it can be seen that far from being all the stupid ideas imaginable as portrayed by some posters to this thread it's actually very clever thinking.

And so many weeks of the Olympics prove it 100% for certain one way or the other, and if it turns out to be wrong even then it's no impossible proposition to shift amenities.

Add in that the tickets for most of the events have been sold by sessions, there will be a lot of movement from the seats so there could quite possibly be over 100K people on the island at any one time, Moving all these facilities out of the main concourses is a good idea as it will greatly aid movement.
