Re: Cardiff City v West Ham Utd: (play off) match thread
I handed in my PP form today, will 7 be enough?
Bit nervous about going to this on my own, I'm 15. Hopefully McCartney will do another 'Messi'!

Id start Lansbury. He has shown he has the quality to create chances in the recent weeks

Another important factor over these play-off games that we get some decent referees.Hard enough to win these games without the officials giving us f*ck all all game.
So please no Chris Foy

Hotel booked in the city centre. £37 each.
Anyone else staying for a night out celebrating a fine away win? We'll be hitting Reflex :raver:

Went to Goodison a year or two older than you are now.Two-Team-Harry wrote:I handed in my PP form today, will 7 be enough?

If the present is the same as those times...trust the old men you go alongside...

Two points:
a) Is it still just 5 substitutes on the bench in the playoffs or more ?
b) Allardyce got criticised a lot during the season so far (by me as well) for negative tactics, being over-cautious and being happy to draw rather than going for the win. Do you think that this and Allardyce's experience could actually be a big positive for us during the playoffs ?

Cheers, my Mum's getting worried because the M***wall fan next door said 'Cardiff are a bit nawty'!prophet:marginal wrote:

Right how many priority points do you think we'll need for the away leg, bear in mind it is usually lower than you think. I remember a spurs away game needing only 1 point a couple of years back...

Keep the team that's worked well for us, there's a good shout for Taylor in place of Lansbury or even Macca but I think we could do with Lansbury's creativity through the middle, and I think we will need McCartney's better defending against Cardiff who will look to hit us. That said Linda will need to get forward and give us width on the overlap along with Demel or we could end up too narrow and lacking ideas.

Right I know a lot of you won't agree with me but if we come back from Cardiff with a win, then we will not go through to wembley as Cardiff will have to go all out to beat us at the boleyn and get through, especially as we can't hold on to a win!
If we come back with a draw or a 1 goal loss from Cardiff then mentally we will have to attack and there will be less pressure/nervousness at home. This will result in a better atmosphere and we should go on to go through.
I know it's a strange way of looking at it, but it's all mental - I will be honestly be much happier coming back from cardiff with a draw or one goal defecit rather than winning by one goal...
You'll see what I mean when the playoffs get underway....

No, I won't.sjb958 wrote:Right I know a lot of you won't agree with me but if we come back from Cardiff with a win, then we will not go through to wembley as Cardiff will have to go all out to beat us at the boleyn and get through, especially as we can't hold on to a win!
But it won't matter because by that token, we will only need a draw to go through. We don't need to win.

You're still mental. You even admitted it in this paragraph.

Didn't last season Spurs' away game go to general sale?sjb958 wrote:Right how many priority points do you think we'll need for the away leg, bear in mind it is usually lower than you think. I remember a spurs away game needing only 1 point a couple of years back...

Gary O'Neil will be a massive loss if he ain't fit for Thursday!
The lad has been brilliant the last half a dozen games. For me he really makes our midfield giving good balance & much needed legs box to box.
One of our key points away from home is how we shut down the ball & him & Nolan are the key men when it comes to shutting down the oppersition.
I'm hoping it's just a case of resting he's ankle & plenty of ice packs.

Mate, it will be so heavily policed that unless you go looking for trouble you'll be right.Two-Team-Harry wrote: Bit nervous about going to this on my own, I'm 15.
Take Prophet's advice though and hook up with some old timers. I'd invite you if I could go, but then you'd be in big ****ing trouble
See you in the playoffs
Talking from experience; its a cruel, cruel predicament we find ourselves in. Obviously you have a very talented side and, naturally, I am ****ting it a bit. Its impossible to call this one. Anyway, see you there.

I daresay you're happier to be in it than we are Ninian!
Two teams in form, could be a classic two-legger.

Re: See you in the playoffs
How do you rate your chances mate? After Birmingham (who I expect to be in the final) Cardiff were the other team I really wanted to avoid in the semi's.
Think I would settle for a draw at your place, I can't see us beating you there. Would be interesting to see how the other side see it.

Re: Cardiff City v West Ham Utd: (play off) match thread
Not confident about this.
First thing tomorrow I'd be asking for 5 players willing to take a penalty.
Either this or the final (Should we get there), will come down to a penalty shootout.
Time to start washing the underwear
