I don't really get why everyone's picking Ba ahead of Parker for most missed. Ba played a handful of games for us. How can we miss what we barely ever had?

Parker was another level entirely for us.

Possibly 'cos we haven't really missed someone putting themselves about in midfield: Noble, O'Neil and Ol' Papa have all done a job. Where we've missed out is having a decent sub for Cole when his knees are playing up. Therefore, Ba is a bigger miss than Parker IMO

- Player of the Year - Carlton Cole ... there's something so 'West Ham' about him :D
- Runner up - Mark Noble
- Young Player of the Year - Dan Potts (I feel Lansbury was better but, as he's Arsenal's player I can't vote for him)
- Best Signing - Kevin Nolan (Always showed up when he was needed .... don't think we would have made the play-offs without him) Can't argue with RVT either in this category.
- Most Improved Player - Winston Reid
- Most Memorable Match - Play-off Final
- Goal of the Season - RVT v Blackpool
- Worst Player of the Year. Carew
- Worst Signing. Carew
- Greatest Disappointment. Not getting automatic promotion
- Hackett of the Year. Billy Sharpe
- Most missed - Demba Ba

15, eh? Might have been a good year to do a "KUMB Years" poll of polls. Same categories, nominations to come from the very cream (or crud of course, from the "worst" categories) of the winners down the years.

See, John Carew is going to walk "Worst Player" of 11/12; no drama there. But how would he fare in the "Worst Player in the History of KUMB" poll against double-winning behemoths Iain Dowie or Shitty Titi? Or "Captain Heroic" Matthew Upson? Or Benni Mc... hang on, Benni McCarthy never won "Worst Player"?!? Well, **** my mum. Perhaps we could posthumously give him the vacant 05/06 slot.

Ah well, maybe when KUMB turns 18. Saucy little trollop, it'll be.

Steve Lomas. End of Discussion. I thank you.

Landsbury must of had terrible year, played 35 odd games, filled in half a dozen positions , but looks like polling less votes than people who played 5 minutes

Andy Impey! Bloody hell, I thought he was just a bad dream!

Gary Breen would walk this poll if we did it.

On reflection - I felt our midfield wasn't the problem, it was finishing chances. Carlton led the line brilliantly this year, but Ba would have scored the goals to give us automatic promotion imho. So we missed him the most. I don't think we miss Parker - it's given Noble his favoured position back.

I think 'most missed' is ambiguous - it can mean most favorably remembered, which would be Scott Parker, but it can also mean left us deficient, which would be Demba Ba. If a commentator says about a team that they are missing player x, he means that they are lacking what he brings to the team, not that they are nursing fond memories. I accept that the distinction is blurred a bit in Scott Parker's case as he is remembered because he gave a lot to the team.

Hackett of the Year - Undoubtedly Alex Baptiste.......It's just embarrassing that he isn't on the drop down list!

I know who I'd rather (play for) pick, It's Just Embarrassing!

Like wizzo mentioned, it's less about missing what we had, but missing what we needed.

This season, our finishing in the middle/2nd third of the season has cost us probably about 10-15 points at least.

I think it's fair to say that we've missed Ba's goals more than we've missed Parker's leadership or control of the midfield, purely because of the players that have replaced them.

This is the key. Had ba stayed we'd have won the title comfortably, but had Parker stayed would we have done any better than we did? Ba gets my vote

Completely agree, first half of the season we were lacking firepower and were crying out for a natural goalscorer like Ba. Our defence has generally been much improved (bar one or two execeptions...Ipswich & Reading come to mind) and we've been creating enough chances so I don't think Parker was missed as much as everyone feared. Nolan brought a whole new dimension to the club and I really think his captaincy has improved team spirit from last season and consequently performances, hence why he was my signing of the season.

think someone else said something similar earlier, my biggest disappointment is that it took us so long to find our strongest, settled side, and start playing some decent football as a result

equally i'd argue that if we'd had ba all last season we would/could have stayed up.....we did have parker all season and didn't

can't believe anyone could remember steve lomas in a negative light. would be awesome in the current midfield imo

Fair point. Plus I think the fact that Ba left on a free and we got some millions for Parker subconsciously puts Ba as most missed in people's head.

Needless to mention we really needed a hitman like Demba at certain points in this season..
