Ironically, my Dad actually travelled down from Blackpool by train on the Friday. I think he paid extra money so that he could come down a day early and not be on a train full of Blackpool fans on the Saturday. Had he come down on Saturday, I'm sure some of the Blackpool fans would have accused him of being in their seats and tried to beat him up whilst filming it

Can somebody explain his arguement? I don't understand it. Blackpool sold 30,000 tickets and couldn't shift anymore. We sold 38,000 and wanted more? What's the problem?

I've been a season ticket holder for 18 seasons now, and have had the same seat in the BML since it opened. We moved out to Nyon, Switzerland two years ago and I have still kept my season ticket even though I can only make around half the games now.

Regarding last Saturday, when it became more likely that we were going to be in the play-offs than not I booked my flight over. It was incredibly expensive as it was a Swiss & French Bank Holiday weekend and so flights to London were almost fully booked, but I took the gamble and booked the flights as I've waited all my life to see West Ham play at Wembley.

So my journey was Nyon- Geneva Airport- London City Airport- Bexley- Wembley- Bexley- London City Airport- Geneva Airport- Nyon...about 1200 miles and £400.

Normally the flights are about £100 return if booked months in advance, but due to Sky switching schedules it is risky booking flights too early.

Adding to my earlier post, I travelled up from Newport, South Wales, with my 16 yr old son to Wembley on Saturday. We went by rail booking a return to Paddington (incl Underground) once I knew I had two tickets for the game. Being a member, I didn't know until the Saturday before, so the rail travel wasn't exactly cheap given that Leinster v Ulster was on at Twickenham the same day and most train seats were already booked in advance (re Rugby fans).
Well worth it though.

I know that a lot of our supporters did travel considerable distances, but i guess the majority didn't.
I think it's worth mentioning in the article, but it's not really relevant.
The relevant points are that they asked for 38,000 tickets & didn't sell them in blocks.
When they realised they weren't going to sell out, they "relaxed" the sales policy, resulting in quite a few Blackpool folk having a paid for weekend in London on the proceeds of touting.
Why are we being blamed for any part of this?

I had one mate from Chicago, one from Hong Kong, one from Dubai and my dad from Spain. All came over Thursday just for the final and we're gone Sunday/Monday.

If the Blackpool chairman had any real business sense he would have sold his allocation block by block, from behind the goal moving around the sides and then when he saw they weren't selling could have sold the remainder to us which would have been in one area and easily segregated. Instead he's now looking for a large pot of gravy to go with the bag of chips on his shoulder.

I think the issue is more that they shouldn't have accepted an unsellable allocation than the fact that not all West Ham fans live in London. I don't know if rounding up a few distant West Ham fans who made a long trip really proves anything.

A few? Really? I would suggest from what I saw and who I talked to it goes easily into four figures..

Completely fails to address the point that West Ham wanted the extra tickets because there was demand, nothing to do with how many they sold.

Well, I left Sydney on Thursday night at about 9.30am via Kuala Lumpur, getting into London at 4pm-ish on Friday afternoon.

After a (pretty enjoyable!) day out at Wembley on Saturday, I hopped on a midday Sunday flight from Heathrow back to Sydney via KL, hopping on a flight to home in Canberra and walked in the door at about 9pm our time (midday Monday GMT).

I think that probably qualifies as a considerable distance!

I don't know if this qualifies for 'some considerable disrance'. I left Cornwall early morning, arrived at Warwick Uni where my daughter is, to pick her up at 9.30, then drove to Rickmansworth where I caught the train to Wembley Park. Then I did things in reverse.

No worse than Blackpool to London I'd say. I wasn't moaning. I was just grateful to have two tickets cos the whole of Wembley (and probably more besides) could have sold out to West Ham fans

Don't see how distance has anything to do with it. As soon as they realised that they'd be returning tickets they should have become available to genuine football fans.

With Wembley so desperate to rake in the cash these days I'm surprised how lax they were about this.
