Hammers bid £7m for Eredivisie top scorer

West Ham have confirmed to ESPN that they have made a £7 million offer for Heerenveen hotshot Bas Dost.

Dost, 22, was top scorer in the Eredivisie this season, with his 32 goals in 34 games helping Heerenveen to a fifth-place finish and qualification for the Europa League.

Having led the Hammers back to the Premier League at the first attempt through the play-offs last week, Sam Allardyce is now keen to bolster his squad ahead of their return to the top flight.

And the Dutchman, who was tipped to make Bert van Marwik's Netherlands squad for Euro 2012 but surprisingly failed to even make the 30-man preliminary shortlist, is Allardyce's top target.

6ft 4in Dost would help strengthen the Hammers' striking options, with Carlton Cole and Ricardo Vaz Te the club's main attacking threat at present, with Nicky Maynard the chief back-up.

I reckon it's one of the most unique and beautiful kits out there..the kit's color pattern and heart shaped thingies symbolize the flag of county Friesland, which is where Heerenveen is situated.

If you can also get Michael Kightly from Wolves, he'll supply the ball for the man to score!

He'll also chip in a few himself. He's struggled for fitness for a while but towards the end of last season was getting back to his best when was an England Under 21 regular after his transfer from Grays Athletic to Wolves.

cheers CH

by the way - do those new police rules about acting on noisy/rowdy individuals help you out at all mate? i know the council have never been that helpful but from what i could make out in the papers the police can now deal with those issues at the time rather than refering to council 'noise' experts.....?

no Karren column today....thought she'd want to revel in the success a bit (and commiserate Mcleish)
