Ideal Premier League

Postby Israeli_Hammer on Mon May 28, 2012 8:34 pm

If we're "back where we belong", who do you think are the 20 teams that truly "belong" to the Premier League?

On the basis history, silverware, fan base and facilities, what would make it an ideal league?

For me:

Man C
Man U
Arsenal
Spurs
Chelsea
Everton
Liverpool
Newcastle
Sunderland
Aston Villa
West Ham
Leeds
Notts Forest
Sheffield Wednesday
Blackburn
Wolves
West Brom
Derby
Fulham
Pompey

I'd probably swap Blackburn and Pompey for QPR and Charlton.

The 20 that are currently there now, no club has a right to be in the top league based in history. Relegation and promotion is there for a reason, to remove the least competitive clubs each year

Have you been to Fratton Park?

I'd agree with most of those, probably swap Leicester for Pompey and Southampton for Wolves

I think their fans alone deserve top flight status. The best in England in my eyes.

Fair enough about Fratton Park, but their supporters did go though more **** than any other club in recent years, have stuck by their team and always produce a great atmosphere.. they just have to get rid of that bell...

How about Coventry? I'm pretty sure they had a 30 straight year run in the top division up until their relegation in the early noughties + now they switched Highfield road with a top quality stadium.. are they "big" enough?

The Fumaster, there's a good chance that you've got the top 11 in the correct order for next season, certainly the top 8.

If it's Premier League then it is hard to argue with the top 20 on stats but I don't like the idea that football only started with the Premier League.

Anyone for a bit of Burnley and Preston?!

Huddersfield won it three years in a row, in the 20's.

How many other teams have won it more than three times?

Only Premier League, doesn't include before... Forest would definitely deserve a place

EDIT: misread the topic title... I'm an idiot. Can't argue with that list if you're looking for the idea Premier League, haha!

No surprise to see from this that our defence has been sh*t throughout our stints in the Premier League :(

A league that does not put money/sky sports/commercial intrest above all others, respects the football league and does not force new conditions on them for scraps from the big table and respects the fans when it comes to kick off times/other competitions like the FA cup
