So well done to England for winning Euro 2012 last night. Congratulations, everybody.

Back to the grind of the club scene, then. And Milan are interested in Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who last came off his line sometime during the 2008/09 season.

Louis Saha is 33! When did that happen? The Rumour Mill clearly hasn't been paying attention. Anyway, he's the subject of a tug of love between Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill and West Ham supremo Sam Allardyce. A tug of love involving Sam Allardyce. It's just as well the Rumour Mill has a strong stomach, has eaten a hearty breakfast and wasn't out drinking heavily last night.

Tottenham Hotspur are after a manager with a coherent long-term plan for the first time since 1958. It's a toss-up between Andre Villas-Boas and Laurent Blanc. We're absolutely not riffing on the theme of the last entry, no matter how desperate we are for a payoff to this one.

The aforementioned West Ham United are also after goalscoring sensation Grant Holt of 2011's Norwich City. Any deal would soothe the searing pain of losing out to Reading for Sochaux-Montbéliard striker Modibo Maïga.

Has Hulk not moved to Chelsea yet? We were pretty sure that happened a fortnight ago. Anyway, he's still up for it. Breaking news, as it happens. Bosh!

Newcastle United will have to double their £8m bid for FC Twente's Dutch striker Luuk de Jong de Kuyt de nos jours.

José Bosingwa doesn't have a job any more, so Barcelona may have to do.

And Barcelona are also hoping to sign Athletic Bilbao defender Javi Martínez, but will make do with either Thomas Vermaelen or David Luiz if they can't get him. David Luiz. Apparently they are deadly serious about this. Aye.

THE GUARDIAN: In the end, England qualified with something to spare and the prize for overhauling France at the top of Group D is a significant one. Italy will represent challenging opponents in the quarter-final on Sunday but the benefits of circumnavigating a date with Spain are plain and Roy Hodgson's players are entitled to think their aspirations of reaching the last four have just been dramatically enhanced. Also: Tottenham Hotspur have held direct negotiations with Andre Villas-Boas and they are poised to offer him the manager's job.

DAILY EXPRESS: Wayne Rooney wrote the perfect script by scoring on his return to send England into the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 - and a clash with Italy on Sunday.

DAILY MAIL: A goal that was more poacher than Pele was not what Wayne Rooney would have visualised when he retired to his hotel room on the eve of this European Championship encounter. Also: AC Milan are considering a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

THE SUN: Wayne Rooney fired England into the Euro 2012 quarter-finals - with a little help from a Hungarian linesman. Also: Alan Pardew has had a £4million bid for France right-back Mathieu Debuchy snubbed by Lille.

THE INDEPENDENT: When it comes to the never-ending debate about goalline technology and the painfully slow pace of its implementation, at least England can consider the debt to them paid in full. Also: Uefa has fined Croatia £65,000 for racially abusing Mario Balotelli - just a day after they handed Nicklas Bendtner a much tougher sanction for exposing underwear advertising.

DAILY MIRROR: Wayne Rooney - and a huge slice of luck - fired England into the Euro 2012 quarter-finals last night. Also: Andre Villas-Boas will have further talks today about the Tottenham job.

DAILY STAR: England face a Euro 2012 quarterfinal showdown with Italy on Sunday. Also: Fernando Torres last night warned Spain's Euro 2012 rivals that the best is yet to come from the holders.

DAILY TELEGRAPH: The big man is back. Wayne Rooney is back with a bang, with a goal that headed England into the quarter-finals of this gripping Euro 2012 where they meet Italy on Sunday in Kiev. Also: Victor Moses is ready to seek talks with Roberto Martinez about his future after Wigan yesterday accused Chelsea of making an "absolutely stupid" offer, of less than £4million, for the Nigeria international.

THE TIMES: Wayne Rooney timed his return from suspension to perfection last night, his second-half goal taking England through to a European Championship quarter-final meeting with Italy in Kiev on Sunday. Also: Rio Ferdinand and Vincent Kompany have criticised UEFA for fining Croatia 80,000euros (£64,561) after their fans were found guilty of racially abusing Mario Balotelli during their European Championship game against Italy.
