Sam ups Andy bid
Hammers co-owner David Sullivan gave boss Sam Allardyce the green light to start talks about landing the Liverpool striker on a season-long loan.
That could lead to Carroll making a £15million switch in 12 months’ time.
Now the whole deal is likely to rest on the outcome of face-to-face talks with Kop boss Brendan Rodgers as the £35million frontman seeks to discover exactly where — or if — he features in Liverpool’s plans.
Rodgers’ refusal this week to rule out Carroll leaving Anfield after 18 months will hardly have filled him with hope.
That immediately alerted West Ham, who are desperate to strengthen ahead of their return to the top flight, although Carroll is said to be keen to stay and fight for his Reds place.
If Carroll does head south, the Hammers would have an option of turning the loan into a full-time deal should they stay up.
Any loan deal would mean Liverpool having to wait a year before they could bank a transfer fee. But the removal of some — or all — of Carroll’s £80,000 wage packet would appeal to Rodgers.
i will belive it when i see it

WEST HAM CO-OWNER DAVID GOLD EYES DEAL FOR LIVERPOOL STAR ANDY CARROLL
WEST HAM co-owner David Gold has confirmed the Hammers are interested in a loan deal for Andy Carroll.
Starsport revealed yesterday that the newly-promoted outfit were interested in taking the Liverpool and England star to Upton Park.
And Gold said: “I am not aware of any talks between ourselves and Liverpool over Andy Carroll.
“But that’s not to say we don’t have an interest should he become available.”
The 23-year-old has hit just 11 goals in 56 Liverpool appearances, but he did score for England against Sweden at Euro 2012.

West Ham ready to make Carroll a Hammer as Gold admits interest in £35m Kop striker
West Ham have upped the ante in their bid to sign Andy Carroll after co-owner David Gold hinted he'd be ready to bankroll the move.
Manager Sam Allardyce wants to make a marquee signing ahead of his club's return to the Barclays Premier League and West Ham are prepared to break their budget for the Liverpool No 9.
Wanted man: Andy Carroll is being linked with a move away from Liverpool, and West Ham and Fulham are both keen on the striker
The Hammers are proposing an initial loan with a view to buying Carroll for around £15million.
That would represent a huge loss for Liverpool, who signed the forward for £35m in January 2011.
And although Gold said official talks hadn't taken part between the two clubs, he admitted the London side are interested in signing Carroll.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Gold said: 'I am not aware of any talks between ourselves or Liverpool over Andy Carroll.
'But that's not to say we don't have an interest should he become available.'
Carroll, 23, is facing an uncertain future at Anfield after Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers refused to dismiss the idea he could leave on loan.
Fulham could yet hold a trump card with Dempsey as Rodgers is a confirmed admirer of the USA forward, who is in the final 12 months of his contract at Craven Cottage.
The interest from Italy in Carroll, who is on holiday, is not just from AC Milan but it is debatable whether a move to Serie A would appeal to him.
Carroll, who has scored 11 goals in 59 appearances for Liverpool, has not given any indication he wants to leave Merseyside but may struggle for regular starts in Rodgers' new regime.
Significantly, Rodgers would not give any assurances about Carroll's future when presented with the opportunity on Monday and a switch to Upton Park could prove enticing.
Allardyce's style of play would suit Carroll, while he would also link up with close friend and former Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan.

So who’s next for a takeover?
ENGLISH football is under attack from a foreign legion whose weapon of choice is bundles of cash.
LEEDS
GLORIOUS history and massive fan base gives them big appeal. The 37,000-capacity Elland Road ground is a big factor as they do not need to move.
Estimated cost: £40m
Buyability: 5/5
DERBY COUNTY
PAST glory days during Brian Clough’s era and a big stadium. Owned by Americans but new investors would boost hopes of returning to the Prem.
Est cost: £35m

Overseas investors are plotting their next targets following the change of ownership at Nottingham Forest this week.
The Kuwaiti-based Al-Hasawi family are now in charge at the City Ground and are looking to take Forest back to the biggest stage.
And wealthy figures from the Middle East, Far East and Russia reckon they can also turn sleeping giants into major forces again with their bottomless pits of money.
Reading sealed promotion last season and then Anton Zingarevich completed his takeover at the Madejski Stadium.
He has already bolstered Brian McDermott’s squad with Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak for next season.
And the aim for these new backers is to get in the Premier League and stay there.
Experts reckon Leeds are the club most attractive to potential investors.
Bahrain’s Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al Khalifa is being linked with them and it is easy to see why he would want them.
They have a huge fan base, a well-known history and a squad capable of Championship promotion next season.
But one of the most important factors is the Elland Road 37,000-seater stadium.
Investors need to be sure they are not splashing out £100million on a new ground.
Other clubs ripe for new owners are Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United.
Derby have an ideal stadium for the Prem but have not returned since 2008 when they were relegated before the end of March. Crystal Palace have loyal fans and a decent infrastructure producing superb young players.
And balancing the books will be a factor when Financial Fair Play comes in.
Coventry also have potential — despite dropping into the third tier they still have the impressive Ricoh Arena.
These clubs will hope for the success Manchester City have enjoyed since their Abu Dhabi owners took charge.
Cardiff, Birmingham and Leicester are among those who have been subject to foreign takeovers and their owners are desperate for the Prem.
And there are also clubs in the top flight who could be targeted — Everton are one who could go to the next level with significant investment.
City’s success came after four years, and potential new owners will also be optimistic of a quick return on their money.
Liverpool are ready to make a £25m loss on striker Andy Carroll this summer, with former club Newcastle preparing a £10m bid to bring him back to the north east.
The Independent
New Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas wants Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho as a possible replacement for Luka Modric. Modric is expected to leave White Hart Lane this summer and Spurs are ready to bring in Moutinho, who shone at Euro 2012 for Portugal.

OWEN COYLE is close to signing Leeds keeper Andy Lonergan for £200,000.
The Bolton boss asked about the ex-Preston ace last month but a move was put on hold as Leeds chased a new keeper.
But now that Paddy Kenny has agreed a switch to Elland Road from QPR, Coyle has gone back in for Lonergan.
FORMER Reading and Stoke defender Ibrahima Sonko, 31, has turned down a move to China’s Super League. He is a free agent after being let go by Ipswich.

Andy Carroll loan availability alerts supermarkets
News that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is willing to hear loan offers for Andy Carroll has alerted several supermarkets in need of someone to service their hard to reach top shelves.
Despite his height and long hair, Rodgers is concerned that Carroll will not fit into a style of football that relies on his feet, opening the door to other organisations to take on the young England striker.
Morrisons regional manager Simon Williams said, “Andy has been gifted genetically to be tall and quite strong, which makes him perfect for shelf-stacking.”
“And if rumours of his personal life are true, then he’ll fit right in with our Saturday staff.”
