Re: Official Betting Thread
I've taken Westwood at 16's and gone with Rafael Cabrera Bello as my outsider.
Re: Official Betting Thread
Going to take Harrington at 18's and Fowler at 35's for sure.hammerdivone wrote:PP are doing seven places for the Open
With McIlroy and Donald both at 18/1 it's got to be worth an e/w
Am tempted by Hunter Mahon and Adam Scott, both at 40's as well.
Tiger at 9 is a bit too short but could well be the right call.

Re: Official Betting Thread
Ive backed my old favourites all E/W. D Clarke and Jimenez both at 125/1, Schwartzel at 40/1 and although he is suffering bad form like crazy i took 250/1 about Paul Casey on the hope that he can play staright and lond for four days and creep into the top 7

Re: Official Betting Thread
I think Rose at 33s is good and Cabrera Bello @ 125 and Leishman 300/1 for interest.
It's not a great betting market though, anyone of about 50 could win it.

Re: Official Betting Thread
Right, on Betdaq, I'm gonna stick £2 on about 10-15 high priced players upwards of about 100/1 each f*ck it.
One of them is bound to score quite well and drop in odds for me to trade in!
Right?

Re: Official Betting Thread
The Open Championship does give the chance to back a number of outsiders to small stakes. Yes, you might just strike lucky but at the very least it gives a betting interest that you can follow (hopefully) through the whole four days.
Scrolls down the leader board. .......Nope, can't see the ones i've backed..... !! scroll down further .....keep going .....further than that......can't see them yet
rrrrr yes , there they are.......+11..............missed the cut.

Re: Official Betting Thread
I'm thinking more fairly established players, who could easily pull out a decent opening 2 rounds at any time:
Jimenez 235
Goosen 162
Clarke 245
Karlsson 245
Cink 365
Casey 525
Romero 230
Cabrera 465
Singh 345
Campbell 360
Then you've got all sorts of half decent players at 300, 400, up to the 1000 rank outsiders
Jimenez 235
Goosen 162
Clarke 245
Karlsson 245
Cink 365
Casey 525
Romero 230
Cabrera 465
Singh 345
Campbell 360

Re: Official Betting Thread
They do look rather tempting odds them mate. You only really need for them to get involved near the top at some point......they don't have to win.
I think there is also nearly always a whacky newcomer, sometimes from Britain (who plays the course regularly) who shoots a low first round score. Maybe pick one like that as well...... if you can find him.

kj choi is a good starter at opens, worth looking at in those type of bets
Re: Official Betting Thread
I don't know anything about golf, but I do enjoy watching it if I have a bet. Tell me who to bet on which will give me a decent chance of lasting the event at a low price with a good return. Cheers

I like his name. It sounds like a winning name.
That's what makes this so damn intense.

Re: Official Betting Thread
After a few days of winners i thought i'd share my horses today. Whenever i post my horses they always lose though so i would advise following any...
14:00 Royal Empire @ 15/8 (Won)
16:00 Silent Moment @ 11/10 (Lose)
16:30 Ghostflower @ 5/2 (Lose)
17:00 Take A Note @ 7/2 (Won)
19:30 Shavansky @ 4/1 (Lose)
20:15 Black Benny @ 10/1 (Won)
Double:
17:40 Chamonix @ 11/8 (Won)
18:10 Beach Of Falesa @ 4/6 (Lose)
Am hoping for a big run from Ghostflower and also Black Benny has been backed in massively since I took 10's last night.

Re: Official Betting Thread
i backed justin rose at 38-1 a few weeks ago
but i also think tom watson is good price at 150-1 (cool old head) might be worth an e/w punt ??
shouldnt really back any golfers until the end of the 2nd round though really - so will do a few in plays too
