We would get a better sponsorship shirt deal if the shirts were available from sports shops like most others !!

Walk past any sports store and there are Manchester (U & C) Liverpool,Chelsea , Arsenal etc etc etc
alongside Barca or Milan shirts... but for West Ham you have to go online if you can't get to the Club shop.

Plus SBOBET stumped up the money in advance, in the Duxbury deal as far as I remember.

Personal opinion is that we have never realy had enough money from sponsors even when we were in the PL.

I'm with Bob (again) on this one. Didn't one year we have NO sponsors...

(Gotta admit though I love my BAC Windows 3rd strip shirt).

Noble's been very loyal. That counts for a lot. Didn't join a Wolves or a Stoke when we got relegated.

Defoe was not loyal, but very young. He's a natural goalscorer who is still hungry for goals. Get him in!

One of the things that drives me most insane..

People say that they don't see West Ham Shirts as much any more in East London/Essex but it's hardly surprising when you can walk into any ****ing JJB or whatever it's called and purchase any Arse, Liverpool, City, Chelsea or Man United Shirt whenever you want.

Instead we've got Julie & Tracey in our Romford shop polishing their ****ing Nails and who, 2 weeks ago, couldn't even tell me when the Home Kit was coming out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Useless B*tches.

Edit : I ****ing love a rant i do, there's nothing i like more.. :raver:

Nothing to do with Tevez row as other sports shops would sell them but they don't because our owners chose to only sell in our club shop only because that way we keep all the money for the sales of them.

I seem to remember we stopped them selling because dave wealan was suing us over tevez and trying to push us out the league entirely. So eggy said we arent selling in other shops anymore.

I will try and find the article from that year

I'm pretty sure you're right too, which is an absolute obscene way of doing business in the modern world .

West Ham well fancied to stay up despite defensive question marks
Loss of great keeper and centre-back shortage offer reasons to worry

West Ham well fancied to stay up despite defensive question marks

Despite accumulating fewer points than Reading and Southampton in the Championship last season and showing less ambition in the transfer market, West Ham are rated less likely to be relegated on their Premier League return than both.

In fact, there are five teams considered to be in greater danger of the drop than the 9/4-rated Irons, including a Swansea side (9/5) who finished 11th in 2011/12 and have already made three fairly high-profile signings this summer.

West Ham have added five players in this window but two were already at the club on loan and the others are replacing those released, so they currently have a thinner squad than the one that wasn’t entirely convincing in gaining promotion.

And it isn’t like everyone arriving has been an obvious improvement on those that previously played in their positions.

Mohamed Diame seems an upgrade on Papa Bouba Diop and new forward Modibo Maiga will need to flop spectacularly to fail to outshine John Carew, but losing star man Robert Green for 37-year-old Bolton reserve Jussi Jaaskelainen is a worry.

Also concerning is the lack of numbers at the back, which was an issue last term yet feels even more troubling following the departure of Abdoulaye Faye and James Tomkin’s call-up to the Great Britain Olympic football team.

The result is that Winston Reid is the only first-team centre back at their disposal at present, and ideally two alternatives need to be recruited before the start of the campaign.

There is still plenty of time to get more bodies on board, however the problem is that West Ham’s most appetising run of games comes in the first few weeks, so they need to be at full strength to fully capitalise on those opportunities.

Fail to make the most of it and they could find themselves in a similar situation to Aston Villa, who drew a lot of winnable early matches a year ago and were ultimately sentenced to a season-long struggle.

It is mildly ironic therefore that Villa are West Ham’s visitors on the opening day, in an encounter that Sam Allardyce’s side are rated 6/5 favourites to win.

Fan Preview Season 2012-13: West Ham United by Miserable Kev

Miserable Kev used to be known as Gentle Kev at the turn of the century but a combination of supporting West Ham and his stressful work (Hong Kong just cannot get those CSV files right!) meant the gentle tag was never going to last. As it happened Jermaine Defoe’s transfer to Spurs was the straw that broke the camel’s back and led to the introduction of Furious Kev. Thankfully Furious Kev is no longer with us but West Ham’s continuing trials and tribulations have left us with Miserable Kev, a mere shadow of his once gentle self. Here he talks to us about West Ham’s forthcoming return to the top flight….

So West Ham are back in the Premier League but if you could change one thing about the club what would it be?

That we signed Tevez and Mascherano rather than just loan them and end up paying as much in fines and court fees and damages and never owned them

What are the aspirations for West Ham this season?

Avoiding relegation, nicking a win against Spurs and not going out in both cups at the first hurdle

Realistically what will count as success for West Ham this season?

Mid table obscurity

In your mind, what has to happen for West Ham to deliver the season you ultimately hope for?

Sign more players especially defenders

If we said you can have any player from any team in world football at West Ham who would you take and why?

Howard Webb is always worth a few points to Man Utd can we transfer him to us ??

Tell us one thing that Big Sam will say in a press conference this coming season.

He’ll probably say “I don’t play the long ball game but it’s something I’m always accused of and I’m stuck with it”

Who is the best Lord? Lord of the Flies, Lord of the Rings or Lord of the Dance?

Isn’t Lord of the Rings one of the two Dave’s “specialised” films ? – that one !!

So how has the transfer window been going for the Hammers so far?

So far so uninspiring….

Any signing that you are excited by?

Maiga possibly

Definitely?

Possibly

And the one(s) that got away?

Nathaniel Clyne to Soton ( will be a star but might be a year or two away )

Anyone that you’re surprised is still at the club?

Piquionne

The window is still open…. will he go?

Possibly Fray Bentos might take him?

Including West Ham, the signing of the season in the Premier League will be?

Probably Robin Van Persie

And the biggest flop amongst the new signings?

Might be my usual very poor insight but I don’t rate Eden Hazard for Chelsea

Let’s have some predictions, who will win the title? And what’s your rationale for choosing them?

Man City again ( they have the money )

Can we have your Top 4 in order please.

Man City / Man Utd / Chelsea / Arsenal

Who’ll win the FA Cup?

Man Utd

Who will conquer Europe and win the UEFA Champions League?

Barcelona

Who’ll win the Golden Boot?

Robin Van Persie

Any club that will exceed expectations like Newcastle did so well last season?

Hopefully West Ham but more likely Southampton

And who do you think could do worse than people think?

Spurs or Liverpool again

Which club is next to be taken over by a foreign billionaire?

West Ham hopefully – though I remember how that ended before

Finally the three clubs that will fall through the trap door will be?

Wigan / West Brom / Villa

Man Utd, Spurs, Newcastle, Everton, West Ham, Fulham & Everton can sign starlet for the right price

Transfer news: Huddersfield manager Simon Grayson has insisted it will take a serious offer to sell Jordan Rhodes

Huddersfield manager Simon Grayson has insisted that Jordan Rhodes will only leave the Terriers if a serious offer is made.

The 22-year-old scored 40 goals for the Yorkshire side last season as they won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs and has been linked with Aston Villa, Everton, Fulham, Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham.

“Our stance hasn’t changed,” Grayson is quoted in the Sunday Mail. “It would take a serious offer to tempt us to sell.

“The chairman Dean Hoyle and I have spoken to Jordan about where we want the club to go. He’s happy with the situation and so are we.

“It’s business as usual. Jordan returned for pre-season and got straight down to work.”

Noble uncertain of new Hammers deal

West Ham are reportedly stalling over whether to offer midfielder Mark Noble a new deal at the club.

The 25-year-old has just 12 months left on his Hammers deal and is said to be keen to sort out fresh terms as soon as possible.
The midfielder, who helped the club secure promotion back to the Premier League last term and will hope to feature regularly in the top flight under Sam Allardyce, has been at Upton Park his entire career and has no plans to look for a move elsewhere.
However, a report in the Daily Star on Sunday suggests Hammers officials are delaying offering Noble a new deal following the summer arrival from Wigan of Mohamed Diame amid extra competition for places in central midfield in the coming campaign.

I don't remember that even if it were true that was 5-6 years ago and doesn't explain why other sports shops don't sell them.It was as I said the reason they now only sell them in the club shop only is because we keep all the money from the sales.Selling through other sporting outlets means you have to pay them a cut.

For what it's worth I don't agree with that decision they chose to make.

Didn't SBOBET bail us out a few seasons ago and give us a load of sponsorship money early so we could pay off something? Might explain why its so low...
