Memories of that race, the golden girl Mary Decker against our SA, sorry English runner who ran barefoot. Didn't remember her getting disqualified for it though, good memory

Wasn't Zola Budd heralded as the great hope but never really achieved her billing??? memory is not great on these sports (As Davids "the knowledge" Cross will confirm).

Her wiki page suggests that she finished 7th, and was cleared by the IAAF, so appears my memory is less than stellar.

Stood next to Arthur Smith in a shop in Balham earlier this week

He was buying The Independent, fags & coffee. He's got a very "lived in" face.

Barry McGuigan in my gym waiting behind me to fill a bottle of water up. Didn't even realise until he was on his way out otherwise I would have said hello.

James May squeezing through the crowds at Blur in Hyde Park yesterday. He looked v self conscious and looked as if he was preying that no one would recognise him ...everyone did but realised his embarrassment and left him untroubled ...how very British.

Cedric Bixler from At The Drive-In / The Mars Volta having a laugh with a bloke who looked like a younger Michael Moore outside the Holiday Inn in Camden. I used to love ATD-I but just gave him a slight glance whilst walking on.

You can't miss him, can you?

Griff Rhys-Jones, Jasper Carrot and Robbie Coltrane on a boat in Mahon Harbour (Menorca).

What started as a perfectly civilised afternoon drinks get together to celebrate the Regatta turned into something utterly shambolic and not for delicate eyes.

Robbie Coltrane is far from enjoyable when drunk and almost as rude as Carrot on a normal day.

He was, however, far more agreeable at Menorca Cricket club (even if my kid did get him out 8-) ).
