It’s Nearly Over Thank The Lord!

I have read all the posts since Monday night, but could not put my thoughts in writing due to events in my normal life.
I apologise in advance if this a bit long. But I am hurting like the rest of you and today felt the needed to put my thoughts down on paper, before I drive myself mad.

Anyway, I was sorry to hear the news about Glenn and like all of us send my wishes for him to regain his health as soon as possible and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

At the start of the season I had high hopes after last year’s 7th place, but could any of us imagined we would be in the situation we are in. I for one thought a top 10 place would be a good achievement, with a good home record and a few good away wins, but oh no! what a horror season, I for one will be glad to put it behind us whatever the outcome.

I wrote an article at the time of Roeder's Appointment, which was published, on KNUB,
(I did not keep a copy but would be interested to see what I said at that time.)

We all know Roeder was the wrong man for the job, but felt we had to give him a chance, and so as last season ended on a high, all in the garden looked relatively rosey.

The board is still in place and though there have been minor protests against Terrance Brown, I think that he should be thanking his lucky stars that he has not suffered the abuse that Peter Risdale suffered at Leeds. But he could well be in for a tough time next season.

Again Glen Roeder has not suffered the abuse, that Peter Reid, Howard Wilkinson, and Terry Venables had to endure. Because at the end of the day, we know his appointment wasn’t his fault and if you where given the chance to manage the club you supported would you have turned it down? The GR Claret and Blue Army has rang out around at home and away. Which I think may have misled the board to think we where a happy bunch.

My highlight was beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, as you are all aware of my feeling to towards them, so you can imagine the joy that result gave me. Di Canio showed once again his talent, and his outstanding ability to find the back of the net. It was one of the best team performance of the season along with the Arsenal home game, and boy did we play like a team that meant business. The injury to Freddie was the only down side to that day. Onwards & upwards I thought. How wrong can you be.

The disappointments where do I start!. Here to name but a few!

Losing at home to WBA, Charlton, Birmingham, Southampton for starters, games on paper we should have won, but we don’t play on paper.
Not wining our home games over Christmas, I think that was when the scale of the situation we were in really hit home.

Di Canio’s reaction to being subbed at WBA, Di Canio, Breen & Fredie’s comments to the media, our defence, the lost of shape to the team, the amount of sloppy goals we let in. I really believe some of our over paid players believed the hype ‘ To Good To Go Down’ Well the league position doesn’t lie.

This morning started of badly, Teletext Chelsea to make a bid £7m bid for Cole, Oh Great! the vultures are already stating to circle. Just lay off and let the season run it’s course.

The Sun: Brevett, “Blasts The fans ”, well for a new boy who hasn’t done badly since joining us, but I would suggest he keeps his mouth shut, and his options to himself. Some of our players need to look in the mirror and ask ‘Do I deserve my wages this week?’. Roeder picks the team he thinks can do the job, and has been let down very badly, yes some of his choices where baffling but that’s football.

At the end of the day the important thing in all of this is West Ham United Football Club, Players, Managers, and maybe even the board come and go, but hopefully the Club will always be there. With probably the best set of Fans a club could have.

We are loyal and have put up with many lows and a few highs over many years, but we must stay strong and give our total support over the remaining 3 games.

As my Hubby has said to me on many occasion this season ‘It’s only a Game’, But how this game and supporting a club can make you feel at times that nothing else matters and feels like your heart is breaking.

On that note I ask you all to “Raise your glasses to West Ham United FC whatever division we are in next season and to who ever the squad may be.”.

COME ON YOU IRONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great post, I would only add Why has Brown not gone public wishing G.R. to get well and thinking of his family. Also Brown has got a lot to answer for in respect of support,cash and always staying out of the pubic eye when the **** hits the frying pan.
