Re: Takeover talk
Nothing to do with any of the current shareholders (I don't think) but years ago, maybe 30 plus, I remember a Saturday night entertainment programme where someone found out they owned a share or shares in West Ham. It was something like a Noel Edmonds type thing but I never heard anything again. It seemed a big deal at the time like it was a real unexpected nest egg.
Would subsequent share issues have made this worthless? I often think back to it but for the life of me I cannot remember more than I have put here.

Think they all got bought out by the Icelandics.bonzosbeard wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 7:36 pm Nothing to do with any of the current shareholders (I don't think) but years ago, maybe 30 plus, I remember a Saturday night entertainment programme where someone found out they owned a share or shares in West Ham. Re: Takeover talk
I'm intrigued about these old shares and why now worthless. Finance is definitely not my thing.

Re: Takeover talk
When Terry Brown sold up to Gudmundsson and Magnusson the compulsory purchase of all shares kicked in... IIRC the trigger figure is 80% (no doubt someone will correct me if that's incorrect).bonzosbeard wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 9:14 pm I'm intrigued about these old shares and why now worthless. I still have my single share cert. If anyone's interested I'll try and dig it out.

Re: Takeover talk
I've still got my single share as well, thanks to a well known KUMB poster
Used to like going to the old AGMs at UP with a free cup of tea and biscuit.
Sullivan got £6m for his WH shares when the Icelandics bought us, the shares had been in some kind of trust.

All these shareholders and bondholders!
I bet you’ve all got Swarkovski encrusted panthers at the bottom of the stairs.

Am I missing something? 688 out of 3438 is 20%Wembley1966 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 4:29 pm ^^^ Yes they do. You're probably counting the shares that have been transferred and their current holding is now 0.

Re: Takeover talk
I had just bought my share and was awaiting the certificate when the compulsory purchase kicked in. Needless to say I never got the certificate, nor my money backUp the Junction wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 9:19 pm When Terry Brown sold up to Gudmundsson and Magnusson the compulsory purchase of all shares kicked in... Re: Takeover talk
A very well spent tenner at the time. The chance to give Brown a verbal kick-in whilst grabbing all the jammy dodgers
ChechHammer - great stuff.

Re: Takeover talk
Probably gives them something to put on their cv, after all failed women’s team head honcho or ‘former’ Arsenal fan doesn’t get you very far.Albie Beck wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 2:18 pm Should't do really - the divvy up will be based on shareholding not seats on the board. It's just giving them a bit of status while he can still dish it out.

Re: Takeover talk
It’s been a few years but it always used to be the case that if you didn’t claim it you would be classed as dissenting with any cash held in trust for I think 12 years; might be worth an enquiry.Albie Beck wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 10:44 pm I had just bought my share and was awaiting the certificate when the compulsory purchase kicked in.
