Same here OFT
Really drew us in from the off and whilst sometimes a story told in flashbacks can get confusing, this all makes perfect sense and I like the way the story is being told from the court as it were .
Not sure we can wait til next Sunday and Monday either

Re: What did you watch last night?
as there is f*** all on bar the i'm a celeb ***** we have turned to Netflix
The Chestnut Man
The Chestnut Man is set in the quiet suburb of Copenhagen, where the police make a terrible discovery one blustery October morning. A young woman is found brutally murdered in a playground and one of her hands is missing. Above her hangs a small man made of chestnuts. The ambitious young detective Naia Thulin is assigned to the case, along with her new partner, Mark Hess. They soon discover a mysterious piece of evidence on the chestnut man evidence connecting it to a girl who went missing a year earlier and was presumed dead - the daughter of politician Rosa Hartung.
7/0 for me, enjoyable and not easy to 2nd guess, plus only 6 episodes means it doesn't drag

The Andre The Giant documentary on Sky. Very enjoyable. I’ve only ever really seen the end of Andre’s career when he was a bit useless so was good seeing what he did in the 70s in the territories. Well made documentary and he comes across as a really great guy.

Hawkeye episode 4. New characters still being introduced. Not sure how they're going to wrap this up in last 2 episodes. I have a sneaking suspicion, based on nothing more than a gut feeling, that Hawkeye is going to be offski'd. You know, killed.

Re: What did you watch last night?
whoever recommended The Wild Gardner, many many thanks.
smashing bit of telly.
yesterday Great Canal Journeys. Sheila Hancock is a real pistol and it's another "smashing telly" bit of viewing.
having been away for so long, it's amazing that I forgot how beautiful the country is. and viewed from the canals it's even better.
I really enjoyed Pru and Tim, but Sheila and Gyles are excellent.
a few memories of John Thaw from her and I had lumps in my throat and a salty fella in my eye.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Discovering Sci Fi if flim.
Three oustanding film reviewers talk about the 25 films that shaped SF on the big screen and beyond.
All the usual films are there - Empire Strikes Back, Terminator 2, Metropolis, The Thing, Alien etc- but some surprise ommissions IMHO - no Escape from New York, Mad Max.
Great viewing though.

Re: What did you watch last night?
I watched 'Nobody' whilst heading out on the plane on holiday. Very good - exactly my kind of film.
On the way home I watched a blu-ray release of 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' fully remastered and with extra scenes. It's one of my favourite all time films
Started watching a film on Amazon last night called 'Encounter'. Only managed an hour though before I started dropping off so I'll watch the remainder tonight. Looked promising though.

Re: What did you watch last night?
VAL - Sky Documentaries:
Watch it. Just watch it.
It's a long auto doccumentary, if there is such a thing, made by Val Kilmer, and partners. about his life. It's excellently narrated by his son and details the warts and all seminal moments of Val Kilmer's life. I was shocked to know that he now has a plastic tube down his throat and he can only speak by placing his finger over the hole. The 61-year-old is now cancer-free after he was diagnosed six years ago. He’s now in recovery after enduring painful chemotherapy treatments, radiation and a tracheotomy that permanently damaged his voice. Needless to say his voice is shot, but that's about all. He is still a real life madcap actor, enjoying life to the full and really bonding with his son.
I didbn't know that Val was an obsessive video maker. He made home movies from the age of 6 up and has a warehouse full of film that he has recorded. From recordings of the socialising after Top Gun filming stopped for the day (where actors like Tom Cruise are filmed off guard and having a whale of a time) to home movies of his mum and dad when he was a kid it is all celluloid gold.
Val's drive and determination is what on show here. From the early death of his elder brother, though the break up of this parents marrige, his constant pushing to become and actor and then become an even better actor. I didn't know that Val created a lengthy home made demo video for Full metal jacket, hopped on a plane and travelled 6,000 miles to hand it to Kubrick personally. He never got the gig. He made a similar show real for Scorcese for Henry Hill and didn't get that giog either. He did the same for the role as Jim Morrison - and he got that gig.
I loved it and if you are in any way interested in Val Kilmer, this is a must-see.
10/10.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Been watching ' Showtrial ' [ BBC 1 ] - two well to do students are accused of murdering a working class student .
Superb bit of court room drama , Celine Buckens puts in a first class performance as Talitha - 10/10 .
Then took in ' You Don't Know Me ' [ BBC 1 ] only to discover this was another court room drama told in flashback - only seen 1 episode , looks good so far .
This afternoon I took in ' Encounter ' on Amazon Prime -
Riz Ahmed is the ex-Marine convinced that humans are being infected by alien bugs so he rescues his 2 young sons now living with their stepfather and mother and drives off with them in the middle of the night . Really enjoyed this - 8.5/10 .

Re: What did you watch last night?
Finished watching this last night. There's no doubt really that it's a good film... and yet I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed. I think its mainly because I expected a further twist as it reached the end but instead it just played out quite predictably. The Old Man of Storr wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 6:24 pm This afternoon I took in ' Encounter ' on Amazon Prime -
