Re: Little things that irritate you
It appears pretty much everyone is suffering Monkeynuts, I feel your pain! I have certain components on 6 to 9 months lead time as well now, planning is a nightmare!
I have a £1M contract almost ready to ship, final piece is a £40k shaft, they have just ****ed it up!! Trying to source new material, joyous ****ing times innit!!
Containers shipments up from $5k to $20k now as well, many shipping companies are making fortunes if you run their current accounts!

But, but, all that control we all took back!Monkeybubbles wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 8:44 am
You're not wrong.
An essential part for a new product we're designing just went from 6 weeks lead time to 32 weeks. Now we have to redesign the whole shebang around an alternative.
Also, we had a boatload of steel that was due to unload in Hartlepool a few weeks ago, but couldn't. It's currently bobbing around in the sea waiting to offload in Portugal instead. God only knows when we'll see it.

Yeah, sure. I bet the equivalent businesses in Europe are all experiencing the same problems.
I oughtn't to have posted it in the Snug mind.

Are they doing that because they need to or they just can?Clacton-ammer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 8:51 amContainers shipments up from $5k to $20k now as well, many shipping companies are making fortunes if you run their current accounts!

I held up my hand and accepted I oughtn't to have posted it in the Snug.
Can't see how answering further won't go against the spirit of that.

Re: Little things that irritate you
****ing speed cameras are the bain of my life. Coming off the A14 to the A1 northbound and was flashed I believe by a camera doing 74 in a 70 mph zone.
Does the 10mph buffer exist still? Hopefully I'll be all right, but still quite annoying...

The 10% thing is discretionary and is in place so as to allow a margin of error in the equipment (as I understand it).LincolnshireHammer wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 1:29 pm ****ing speed cameras are the bain of my life. Re: Little things that irritate you
Phew...definitely saw a flash however! Are the cameras set for 70mph + 10% or 70?prophet:marginal wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 2:08 pm The 10% thing is discretionary and is in place so as to allow a margin of error in the equipment (as I understand it).

Re: Little things that irritate you
Cameras are set for the speed limit.
I think however that there is a human element involved, so that the notice might be automatically processed, but only those that are limit+10% on top are actually stuffed in an envelope and sent out.
Sometimes, too, the camera remains operative, even though the licence to issue fines has expired. This goes back to the fact that regional bodies obtain licences from central government to issue the fines, further to the prosecution of these types of offences being contracted out and no longer under direct police control. We've got one near the border between two London boroughs in a residential area that still flashes people driving through it, but locals have twigged that fines are never issued in respect of that camera any more.
Councils in London now much more regularly use those Smart cars with a human operative in them at box junctions and the like.

Is it that some one won an obscene amount of money or the fact that they are French that irritates?
