I think there's a case of class is permanent, and (bad) form is temporary with Antonio.

Thing is though, if people only judge him on the number of goals he scores, they are only judging him on a small part of his game, he really is so much more to us than that.

Exactly, his hold-up play, badgering of defenders, linking of wide players and overall strength are just as important. :hamm:

The people that popped up as soon he was on a bad run of form, but seemed to have disappeared since clearly have an agenda IMHO

Reminds of a bloke 3 rows in front of me when I was a ST holder, would hurl ridiculous abuse at Carlton Cole and Nolan when the players were warming up, celebrate if they scored and then abuse them again at the end of the match... total cock

You could argue more important than his goals. Might be a silly thing say as he is a striker so goals is his job, but the space. hold up play he creates makes us tick as a team and allows others to get in.

As for turtle head, had one this morning, soon got rid of that, if only so easy on here eh..

Give them a chance, he’s had one good (not great) half in ten games.

Well that's nonsense isn't it. He's looked largely off the pace since the international break but he was vital to our results before then even if the goals has dried up.

We don't score 7 goals against Villa and Liverpool without him on the pitch.

False.

In his last ten games

Leeds - Winner
Tottenham - Winner
Aston Villa - 2x key pass before Goal.
Liverpool - 2x Corners won leading to goals.
Chelsea - Key Pass in build up to goal, key movement to make space for another goal.

That's 50% of the games that he has been vital to our winning. The other 5 games were:

Brentford - defeat
Everton - win
Wolves - defeat
Man City - defeat
Brighton - draw

Essentially unless it's Antonio creating openings, we don't score.

Vital.

I think it's the same with Soucek. They ignore the distance he covers every single match, up & down, side to side, always in the right place. Then there's the amount of headers he wins in our own box. But some want him rested simply because his goals dried up. Really the goals are a bonus.

I personally think we’ve given him an extension far too soon. But he certainly deserves at least a pay rise for all his effort these past 2 years. :newthumb:

Had a bit of a hissy this week in training apparently after getting the run around in a practice match from one of the more junior CB's.
The youth player in question was removed from play.

Are you saying a youth player had a good game against him so the young lad was punished?

Very odd behaviour from our management team.
What is the source of this - sounds like boll0cks or severely sensationalised?

Antonio has a hissy so the youth player is sent in? Surely not.

Perhaps they didn’t want to hurt Antonio’s confidence and also protect the youngster. Could do all sorts to moral if not handled correctly.
