I might have imagined it, I haven't watched the game back, but I sensed a slight reluctance from some of ours to pass to him when he was in space. Bit of an alarm bell for me, but can't fault him for being a destroyer. Got properly stuck in and never stopped running. That will do for me as a backup.

How many times did this happen and who were the players not passing to him?

Actually this did cross my mind once or twice during the game. Nothing to be concerned about though I think. The team is very well drilled and have spent many months training and practising passages of play. Being the new guy, he's not quite so familiar with it and his positioning was probably a bit off. Also the level of trust between him and his teammates has not really had time to develop yet. It will develop though with time.

Naturally plays further up the pitch than most of us expect someone that looks like him to.

Anywhere that breaks down the passes that he attempted and completed? Whoscored shows them all but not the outcome. I've an inkling his passing in deeper areas was OK (not perfect) and a lot of the incomplete ones were in attacking areas.

it is pretty normal. If you look the first matches of Soucek for WHU, it was absolutely the same. He was quite ignored too.
The guy is new and they know him and his abilities from mutual training. You do not want to pass him the ball after run forwards just to run quickly back because he has lost it. Once he proves himself in training, then he will receive more confidence from teammates on the pitch as well.

He didn't contribute much tonight, but I didn't think he was poor. I was very disappointed in Soucek. A passenger all night

He’s a 23 year old lad, on loan, playing in a new country, with his one appearance being an away win a team old Trafford.

Think we should chillax a little.

The Czechs were playing one of the favourites for the World Cup in Qatar , conquerors of mighty Belgium in Euro 2016 , didnae be too harsh on the wee laddies , Puff .

Agreed. He was competent and playing within a plan. Ronaldo looked average until he scored against us. My point being they cannot achieve those high standards every match. Plus he’s still developing. We have an affordable option on somebody that could be good. We have been in worse positions with players I suggest.

When he plays crap for West Ham?

One game played for us, we won it 1-0 away at Old Trafford and Kral did his job well.

The international form of our players means little to me. Yarmolenko does brilliantly for Ukraine but has been rubbish for us for a while. Antonio played one game for Jamaica and did nothing. If we were going by international form the former would be starting ahead of the latter, but we all know that’d be utter madness.

He is gonna have to start some games soon, once we get back to it vs Everton we have 7 games in 23 or so days before the next international break.

He looks a bit ponderous and slow with the ball when I have seen him but he needs game time to get up to speed. It takes players time.

Think starting with Lanzini in CM and with a back 3 + wing backs would be good for him, plenty of options. Let him do the physical side and play it simple. No problem with a DM playing it simple. It's when they try things outside their skill set it's an issue.

Be interesting to see if he can actually play the DM role because that is not what he is asked to do by the Czechs and most of the games I have seen him play are the internationals.

They seem ask him to be more expansive than just a DM and it is then he appears to struggle pretty consistently for them.

Anyone know what the terms of the ‘obligation’ is? Starts or appearances, how many games etc? Wouldn’t surprise me if that is a bit of a factor in the decision to start/bring him on.

You’ve got to think the most urgent priority use of him would be if Rice or Soucek got injured and miss a few games - if that were to happen later in the season do you already want to have him bordering on that obligation clause?

Had been thinking the exact same thing. I expect Moyes will use him sparingly until he's absolutely sure he wants to sign him on a perm, depending on how many games he needs to play to trigger the obligation.

I believe Craig Dawson's obligation was 15 or 20 games? You'd imagine Kral's would be something similar.

I'm judging him only on performances at West Ham. So far he's played one and done well in that game.
