I'd change the shape and play 3-5-2/3-4-2-1

Definitely play Areola, Diop, Fredericks, Coufal, Masuaku, Kral, Vlasic. Lanzini.

Add one CB, one CM, one Striker.

A change of shape is the best way to give the front 6 a bit of a rest and make use of what's left.

I can imagine us playing it at Man City as well/

Domestically, these haven't done too badly since our last game against them.

They've had one heavy defeat (1-4), but won three times - including a 5-2 victory where Kara scored a hat-trick - and drawn twice. Obviously, the standard of their domestic league is low-ish.

They won 3-0 in one of their cups, and won one, lost one of their EL games.

Sounds a little bit over-dramatic, but I am beginning to wonder when Vlasic and Kral are going to have games that demonstrate why we showed the initial interest in their signatures. I can't see anyway around having to send out a team that contains some changes from yesterday's game, because we have tough league fixtures coming up, with some regular players looking close to complete burn out.

Is it right that Kral was signed on loan rather than permanent as Moyes was unconvinced by him? Looks like he’s done nothing in training to change Moyes’ mind.

I’d be changing quite a few for Thursday, Antonio and Soucek both to be rested, Rice as well if he’s still feeling the after effects of illness.

I’d go with:

————————-——-Areola———————————-

-Coufal——-Diop—Dawson—Johnson——-Masuaku-

—————————-Kral——Lanzini———————————

———————————Vlasic——————————————

—————Yarmolenko———Bowen——————————-

Lanzini, Coufal and Masuaku are especially auditioning in this game for a potential start against Man City.

Kral I want to see get some minutes. Not just to judge whether he’s good enough or not. But Rice is now 1 yellow card away from suspension. So the more game time he gets the less rusty he’ll be if we have to throw him straight in.

Id go with the very best team he has available for Vienna Away and put the, lets say fringe players, on at City away on Sunday...Sunday youre going to be running around in circles for the full 90 minutes whoever you put on, so get Noble up there for a run out, and lets get that Top Spot in the Euro Group fully sorted with yet another excellent European performance.

He usually does but, recently, it hasn't made too much difference.

I think he needs a week off, he was way off his A game yesterday.
Moyes should just tell him to focus on the city game.

Areola
Coufal. Diop. Dawson Masuaku

Noble. Kral. Soucek
Yarmolenko Bowen
Vlasic

Vlasic badly needs a goal to kickstart his career here whilst Soucek just needs a goal to get back to the high levels he’d been showing ever since he put on the hammers shirt.

Fornals and Benrahma to come off the bench if we need them.

Would love to see him give another young kid some minutes off the bench - Baptiste maybe?

Would start Soucek for this one, as he has been rested for 2 out the last 3 EL games & also missed the last Czech game so he’s had a good amount of rest recently.

Agree that Antonio needs to be left in London, he hasn’t stopped playing recently and looks the most lethargic in the team.

Bowen up top, with Benrahama Fornals and Vlasic in behind :newthumb:

Vlasic and Kral are probably be more suited to a continental game while they are settling, rather than the cut and thrust of the English premier league. We've seen how long it can take for players to adjust, some make it, some don't.

I don't know if the Vienna we saw at home is a true reflection of what they are really about, but on the basis of that evidence we should be tactically positive on Thursday and then out our feet up for the last group game.

Looking forward to the Cole and Cole show :newthumb:
