The Watford player who was dismissed against West Ham on Sunday and subsequently ruled out of appearing in this weekend's FA Cup Final has had the decision overruled.

Having been issued a straight red for felling West Ham's Michail Antonio during the second half of West Ham's 4-1 win yesterday, Jose Holebas looked set to miss out on appearing in this weekend's clash with Manchester City.

However the FA have moved quickly to overturn the decision made by referee Chris Kavenagh, meaning that the Greek midfielder is once again eligible to feature for the Hornets at Wembley.

According to an article on Watford's website, "the Football Association's Independent Regulatory Commission has upheld the claim of wrongful dismissal after an appeal by the club."

Holebas' dismissal, which occurred in the 48th minute of the Vicarage Road clash occurred after he pushed West Ham's Antonio as he surged towards the penalty area.

West Ham are of course no strangers to such controversy.

In 2006 Hayden Mullins was ruled out of the FA Cup Final against Liverpool after being sent off for clashing with the same club's Luis Garcia just two minutes after the Spanish winger had entered the fray as a late substitute. Both were forced to sit the Final out as a result.

And in 1980 Billy Bonds was allowed to feature for the Hammers against Arsenal despite having been involved in a fist fight with Birmingham City's Colid Todd, having been granted special dispensation to appear by the FA.
