West Ham have confirmed that the double-signing of David Martin and Roberto will allow Nathan Trott to enjoy a season of competitive football on loan.

The highly-rated Trott is expected to join either a Championship or League One club on loan for the duration of the 2019/20 season after the Hammers signed two experiences 'keepers within the space of a few days earlier this month.

And first team goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero confirmed that Trott will be allowed to leave the club on a temporary basis as a result - which grants fellow Academy stopper Joseph Anang the opportunity to be fully tested at Under 23 level next season.

"With Lukasz being joined by Roberto and David [Martin], this will enable us to give Nathan the opportunity to go out on loan and get some valuable experience of playing first-team football," he explained.

"Nathan is one of the best young talents in England and it is important we give him the platform to continue improving and developing his skills. If Nathan goes out on loan, this will give Joseph Anang to play regularly for the Under-23s.

"We also have some promising goalkeepers in the younger age-groups such as Daniel Jinadu and Krisztian Hegyi, who is only 16 and we consider to be one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe at the moment.

"My idea is that we need three first-team goalkeepers ready to perform, which in turn enables the young goalkeepers to concentrate on their development without the pressure of training, travelling and playing in lots and lots of matches.

"It is not beneficial for young goalkeepers to have too busy a schedule. The club has some very good goalkeepers at all levels, with some great prospects for the future, so we are all happy with this situation."

West Ham's three first team goalkeepers now have a combined age of exactly 100, with first choice Lucasz Fabianksi (34) being joined by Martin and Roberto, both 33.
